Single Shot - Sumatra MandhelingSingle Shot - Sumatra Mandheling
Notes: Single Shot is our rich and beautifully balanced coffee stout made this time with a classic coffee - Sumatra Mandheling! It pours a dense black color the glass unleashing a fluffy, mocha-like head. We experience flavors and aromas of milk chocolate, syrupy coffee, and roasted caramel. Single Shot - Sumatra Mandheling is rich on the palate while maintaining a airiness that leaves you wanting more… Sumatra Mandehling coffee has historically produced some of our favorite Double Shot batches, and this representation is no exception - a true treat in the can helping us bridge the gap between this long cool season and warmer weather.

This blend was absolutely stellar. Love the Sumatra coffee blend in this. Really pops in the aroma and comes through nicely on the palate. Coffee stouts are my jam and this one is fantastic.

This is my favorite blend yet. Feels and tastes like you're biting into a marshmallow. Extremely refreshing and enjoayable, seek these out while you still can!

L - dark paint-like brown with an almost cherry-hued burnt wood head.

S - nutty milk sugar. Walnuts and chestnuts. Chocolate cake with those little chocolate chips. Roasted almonds.

T - toasty coffee beans give it a vaguely sour bitter bite before the bittersweet Baker's chocolate comes pouring in. It's rich, but at the same time restrained to increase drinkability. Has a fresh herbal character like the ground these beans were picked from (coffee doesn't grow on trees, right?). Bold roast drizzled with chocolate syrup. Cooling and drying on the finish.

F - medium feel with signature Tree House life coming from the creeping carbonation that rises from the depths like water boiling from the bottom up.

O - more biting and aggressive than OG Single Shot. Despite its milk stout categorization, SS has always had a bit of a black coffee bite, but this SM variant kicks it up a notch or two. Crisp and oddly refreshing, this is a good Sunday morning coffee substitute.

One of the best beers I've had from TH (or anyone) to date. This beer is extremely dark w/ no light getting through with a thick brown head. The smell is a sweet creamy coffee w/ notes of chocolate and caramel. The taste is incredible. Coffee is the dominate flavor here but there is heavy caramel, roasted grains, minimal to no smoke. The bitter from the coffee balances the sweet perfectly. The mouthfeel is perfect for this beer. This beer is a must have for anyone that is a fan of coffee stouts. Well worth actively seeking out.

Drinking as an on site draft pour. Served with a nice head. Smell is there but faint. Feel is thin like the other single shots but the taste is much richer.

Poured on draft at the brewery.

Pours a near pitch black color with a finger of creamy tan head. The head leaves a fair amount of sticky lacing before settling into a golden ring.

The aroma brings notes of roasted malts, milk chocolate, and burnt coffee.

The flavor is all about the chocolate. Just straight up chocolate cake with a caramel drizzle. The coffee notes are very subtle but present on the finish.

The feel is medium bodied with soft carbonation. Velvety smooth and pillowy. Creamy and moderately dry.

Overall, a good milk stout that is a tad unbalanced but still extremely flavorful. Definitely would love to have a few cans of this bad boy.

L: Pours a rich mahogany and chestnut with a rich khaki head
S: Awesome fresh roasted coffee notes
T: Rich creamy mocha, cacao nibs, and espresso notes
F: Moderately thick with ample carb
O: Another killer Single Shot variant. Sumatra is an incredible coffee and TH always does it justice - nice easy sipper

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a custom Sam Adams glass; canned on 04/06/2018, code: "FRESH POTS! DO NOT AGE!"
A: Pours an opaque, almost black color with a three quarter inch, light brown head, good, though not great retention, and solid Belgian lacing.
S: Fresh brewed, black coffee, molasses, and blackberry predominate. Smokey.
T: Sweet. Tastes like freshly brewed, iced coffee, although plum, licorice, and wood smoke notes are present. Bitterness present and provides a nice offset to the lactose sweetness.
M: Full bodied with persistent strong carbonation.
O: Really a treat if you like stouts. Not usually a big milk stout fan, but this is a well designed and executed one.

Canned 4/6/18 and purchased at brewery.

L: 1F+ tan head with decent retention, leaving spotty lacing and a cap and ring. Beer is jet black.

S: Strong coffee here, along with sweet dairy and roasted, caramelized malts.

T: Follows nose, really a ton of coffee flavor in here, but not overwhelming or bitter. Syrupy, yet not at all cloying. Neutral finish.

F: Medium body, a little bit of carbonation. Construction and balance the usual top of the line TH offering.

O: As good as it gets.

Poured from a 16oz can into a TH willi glass.

Pours a thick brown-black body with a two finger brown head that leaves spotty lacing.

Aromas are roasty and sweet - iced coffee and cocoa. Taste is creamy fresh coffee beans, quite roasty with a dark chocolate finish. Rich creamy mouthfeel. Low carbonation.

I love all single shot variants and this might be the best yet
