Moment of Truth is a barrel-aged stout brewed with dark amber maple syrup and aged in barrels that previously aged whiskey, then maple syrup. It pours like syrup in the glass and carries flavors & aromas of chocolate-covered maple candies, bourbon-vanilla maple, and rich toffee. It is the culmination of several projects coalescing into a singular beer that we find to be remarkable in its texture and depth of character—Enjoy!

Big, thick, pitch black with a thin khaki head that dissipates to a collar. No lacing but nice alcohol legs.
Maple, oak, fudgey, vanilla, and smooth bourbon nose.
Flavor is on point with the nose, with a noticeable sweetness that doesn't reach the point of being cloying. I can see how the maple/vanilla notes could be perceived as "soy saucy", but it really isn't that to me. I really enjoy the fudge notes.
The mouth feel is big and thick, and it coats the mouth well. Only a touch of heat. The oak dies the finish.
This is an excellent stout. It's not in the top echelon, and I could see why for the price some would be disappointed, but I would buy it again for sure.

I'm not usually a person who is attracted to non-coffee stouts but although this one is on the sweeter side, I didn't find it over the top. Lots of bourbon, vanilla and fudge. I find absolutely no taste or smell of soy sauce as the first reviewer, MJKH84 mentioned. Although this beer is pricey I found it quite enjoyable.

Didn't find this one as controversial as others have seemed to find it. Definitely big maple and woody bourbon barrel character, especially on the nose. Flavors do have a little of that tart cherry/soy sauce thing that others have mentioned, but I wouldn't say it necessarily tastes infected. Mouthfeel was the weak part for me, which was seemingly quite thin, especially given the thick appearance. Not worth the high cost of entry, but not terrible either
