Canned on 3/5/22; consumed on 5/9/22
Pours a viscous, near-pitch-black body capped with a finger of pale mocha foam; solid head retention leaves a few spotty islands of paper-thin cap, a large, creamy collar, and the occasional strand of webby lacing holding tentatively to the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens to a basic bakers cocoa into richer fudge, leaving a vague Thin Mint inflection via undertones of spearmint, while distant dark fruit esters spawn from used coffee grounds over the back end of the bouquet.
Taste shows bittersweet dark chocolate and nearly nondescript spearmint trending toward vague mint cookie and a subtle roast over the mid-palate as milky cocoa dries to used coffee grounds for a quieter depth.
Mouthfeel offers a medium body with minimal carbonation; creamy textures find a slick grit while minor char advances in the backdrop over the mid-palate, where somewhat sticky undertones become moderately dry through back end and finish.
Noncommittal to its mint cookie namesake, this beer opts for a more basic presentation of baking cocoa elements culminating in semi-pastry form as a milder malt roast coasts over time; decent enough overall, though weak in its attempt to distinguish itself as an adjuncted stout.

Good head production and retention given the style and ABV.
Aroma reveals little. There is a hint of mint cookie on the back end, some coffee, and some roast, but you kind of have to dig for it. Additional notes include caramel, toffee, molasses, and bitter chocolate.
Thick and glorious feel on the palate. Chewy, with a bit of sting from the ABV, but it's very approachable - friendly, even. A big giant friendly guy, intimidating from a distance, but he actually gives great hugs.
Flavor is much more expressive than the nose. The mint is still restrained, which is nice; it's not an over the top flavored dessert beer. Notes of caramel, coffee (lots), honeycomb, cream, leather, some indistinct dark fruit (perhaps prune on the back third), cookie dough, chocolate.

12 oz can split with two friends, poured into a wine glass. Pours pitch black with an oily mocha head. Some retention and lacing - not bad at all for a big stout like this. Some mint in the aroma, but not much if any at all in the flavor. Lots of espresso, dark/bitter chocolate, and dark roasted malts, along with some earthy hops. Lots of residual sweetness, but nicely balanced by the bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, and it goes down too easy for the 11.2% abv. Overall, I wish there had been a little bit more mint but that doesn't prevent this from being a hugely successful beer.

Picked-up two cans at Tree House in Sandwich for about sixteen dollars. My two hundred and thirty ninth brew from these guys. This was a miss for me, not a flavor that is suited for beer.
