Quadruple Shot Barrel Blend is an imperial milk stout brewed with a blend of fresh and barrel-aged Quadruple Shot and then conditioned on mountains of our House-roasted Monochrome Blend. Pouring like syrup in the glass, it carries flavors and aromas of bourbon-chocolate coated coffee beans, vanilla syrup, as well as coffee ice cream. This is a great beer for sharing, and presents especially well in a snifter. Enjoy at 45-50 degrees.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours an oily pitch black with no head initially, but persistent bubbles rise from the depths to form a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor feature bourbon, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, dark roasted malts, and of course a heavy dose of coffee. It's a well-integrated beer with no rough edges, either flavor- or alcohol-wise. Thick, creamy, viscous mouthfeel. Not quite cloying, and overall surprisingly easy to down a full 12 ounces of this substantial beer. Not quite my favorite stout from TH, but still excellent.

Drank from a 12 oz. bottle purchased at Tree House Brewing Company, Sandwich, MA
Served in a snifter

The beer poured an oily and viscous, near pitch black and was topped by a thin, finely beaded, burnt sienna colored crown that quickly dissolved. Tiny dots of lacing trickled down the sides of the glass after every sip.

The aroma was solid but not as impressive as I hoped. Roasted malts were most apparent. Bit of caramel malt sweetness too. Dark roast coffee was also noticeable but more subtle than I anticipated. Some woody, boozy barrel notes came through as well. Both the sweetness and the booziness intensified as the beer warmed.

The flavor profile was terrific. Really malty and robust up front. Nice mix of caramel and roasted malts. Coffee appeared as the beer moved along the palate. Medium roast coffee to be precise. Semisweet chocolate and vanilla were apparent as well. Moderately sweet. Boozy bourbon notes rounded things out in the finish.

Fantastic rich, dense, full bodied mouthfeel. Super creamy and slick, like heavy whipping cream. The liquid contained a fine, subtle effervescence that worked perfectly for the style.

Tree House’s “Shot” series beers are always enjoyable, and Quadruple Shot - Barrel Blend was no exception. The barrel dried out some of the base beer’s sweetness and added a bit of additional booziness and complexity. I would gladly drink this again.

I picked up this 12 oz bottle at the brewery about 3 months ago. The the bottle has been in my cellar since then.
Pouring into my snifter at cellar temp the beer pours a jet black no lightener coffee color with a dark brown creamy dense head of 1 cm foaming up. I gave a pretty aggressive pour to get any head to build up. I dont get much lattice when I swirl, but do get some dark legs or temporary staining on my glass as the beer very slowly rejoins the rest of the liquid in the bottom of my glass. Thick coating beer this one is.
The aroma is dark chocolate fudge and some rich coffee notes. The coffee aroma is slightly sweetened, not just a black roast note. There is a little bit of brown sugar and cocoa powder in there too. no hint of hops and ABV is hidden. Label doesnt say what type of barrel aging, but I assume bourbon as I get some bourbon and vanilla mixing in on deeper sniffs.
First sip reveals a pretty big thick body with smooth texture and gentle soft carbonation. The beer coats my palate with each sip and leaves a covering on my lips.
Flavor is rich fudge and brownie, mixing with sweetened coffee and roasted malts. Hints of vanilla and bourbon come up on the finish. There is also just the hint of warming on the swallow and no hop details detected.
A big chocolatey coffee imperial stout. I enjoy this brew, but am getting some heartburn towards the end of the bottle. Coffee acidity? too much lactose? who knows, but it is part of the final experience for me.

Blurring the line where imperial stout ends and java milkshake begins, Tree House gives their Quadruple Shot a bourbon barrel age treatment for an added boozy kick with all that southern style whisky complexity as well.

Quadruple Shot Barrel Blend floods the senses with a nearly reckless aroma of chocolate, coffee and cream shortly after its plush and viscous pour. Generously black the beer's appearance is espresso-like with the visual density of milkshake. With the first sip glossing the tongue, the early impressions of rich chocolate, nougat, French vanilla and caramel gives the beer a bold affogato character.

As its tar-like coat expands across the middle palate, the tastebuds are awash with thick and heavy malt. As the espresso flavors rise through the session, the focus remains on the persistent sweetness and its velvety textures. Warming on the late palate, a sense of kahlua and cream gives rise to flavors like White Russian cocktails and Snakebite shots.

Continued richness and lavish coffee flavors ensure a pleasantly cloying mouthfeel with palate fatigue coming in quickly, the beer may be hindered with drinkability, but its rewards are on its high level of culinary art. Finishing with more flavors of death by chocolate and tiramisu, the overload of the senses seems unmatched.

12 oz bottle. No date, but picked up at the brewery 2 weeks ago

Pours jet black and thick like used motor oil. Just a very thin head. Huge aroma of espresso, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate. Similar flavors in the taste, fairly sweet. Only moderately roasty. Very thick mouthfeel, low carbonation, slick

This one pours a syrupy looking and very dark black color, with a small head, and just a little bit of lacing.

This smells like melted coffee/chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, cookie dough, roasted malt, vanilla, spicy bourbon, and oak.

This is utterly and completely decadent in a fantastic way. It leans slightly syrupy, but in a way that oddly works. It’s super reminiscent of some monster amalgamation of chocolate ice cream, coffee ice cream, and cookie dough ice cream, but with less sweetness, but equivalent creaminess. The coffee adds a very nicely balancing bitterness here – roasty, vibrant, and charred. There’s a light barrel character, balanced and tasty. Most Tree House beers seem to lean back on the barrel character by blending in fresh base. Although I do tend to love a huge barrel character, the dialed back barrel helps the coffee really, really shine here.

This is medium to thick bodied, thick, syrupy, and creamy, with basically no booziness.

This is utterly fantastic stuff, one of the best stouts that I’ve had from Tree House.
