Geisha is a masterful collaboration between our barrel-aging and coffee teams. It begins life as a humble imperial stout. From there, it is laid to rest in select bourbon barrels that enable it to evolve and progress to a nuanced, rich, and delicious stout. Following it's slumber in barrels it is conditioned upon an illustrious Geisha coffee, hand-selected and roasted by our coffee team. This one is special. Cherish, and enjoy.

750ml bottle poured into a pair of unbranded snifter glass.

Appearance: Dark black as midnight and pours thicker than motor oil. Does conjure up much of a head from an aggressive pour.

Smell: Incredible smelling coffee stout. Rich smelling Coco Nibs. Not getting much for the barrel notes here.

Taste: Massive coffee. Smooth roasty notes of coffee. Rich and complex coco nibs flavors from the base stout. A long coffee finish. No barrel flavors at all. Which is a disappointment honestly, barrel notes would have taken this coffee stout from a very very solid coffee stout to absolutely incredible, if barrel nuances were present...

Mouthfeel: thick at fridge temp and thins out at room temp. Smooth without any boozy harshness. The coffee remains smooth flavored and I think gets better the warmer this stout got. medium bodied stout with low and adequate carbonation levels.

Overall: Got really lucky and was able to taste the cold brew and make hot coffee with the same beans used in this stout by treehouse. The cold brew and whole beans that I used to brew coffee were probably the highlight over this stout. The coffee was perfect in this stout, but no barrel notes were present; which was disappointing when the front beer label boldly says "barrel aged for 12 to 16 months".
