Tree of Fortitude is our signature barleywine that has been aged in a variety of flavored Rum barrels between 14–20 months. It utilizes several distinct ingredients to both enhance and elevate the base beer to new, intriguing places.

By implementing careful doses of vanilla, coconut, and lime, it carries flavors and aromas of sweet brown sugar, soft candied coconut, and a delightful underlying hint of lovely citrus. Once combined, these independently recognizable flavors harmonize into a pleasant blend that may just transport you to a more tropical locale.

Wherever you find yourself drinking Tree of Fortitude, we hope you enjoy it in good company and in good health.

Pours a dark deep murky brown no light getting thru this baby small tan head disappears to a ring very light lace.

Aroma is brown sugars, caramel, coconut, rum soaked dates, vanilla, chocolate, sweet and inviting.

Taste follows the nose sweet big brown sugars, caramel, coconut/vanilla rum goodness, dark fruit hints, chocolate notes. Finish is more sweetness coconut and weirdly lime notes, not sure if its from the rum barrels? Nice sweet desert BW, rum aging and coconut go well together.

Mouthfeel is big medium, seems little lighter then it should but carbonation is medium at best.

Overall a nice little BW, enjoyable.

Poured at fridge temp, but it warmed in the glass for 10 minutes before I tried it. It pours a very dark brown with minimal head. The nose is amazing. Caramel is dominant. Coconut, vanilla, rum, chocolate, marshmallow, honey, and brown sugar.

The taste largely follows the nose. Tropical vibe to it. Coconut, rum, caramel candy, vanilla, molasses, and some dark malts. The citrus is there, but very subtle.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a relatively sweet rum and coconut aftertaste. Lovely barleywine overall.

The label says vanilla, coconut and lime. I definitely taste all three. Light carbonation and a head that dissipates quickly. The flavor is great but it's a bit on the sweet side.

No date found on the bottle, courtesy of @roguer in '25 BIF:

After fighting through wax (damn you!!!), ToF pours a deep mahogany/walnut, almost on the verge of jet black in the glass. Head is non existent, only a subtle ring. Smells of rum, vanilla, and coconut. Taste is sugarcane, brown sugar, caramel, raisin, toffee, with the faintest hint of coconut (which is good because I generally don't find coconut in beers that appealing). As it warms, slight tartness develops, likely due to the addition of lime. Sipping, this gives Revolution Straight Jacket vibes albeit at a slightly lower ABV. Syrupy mouthfeel, moderately carbonated, very sweet, but not cloying, somewhat boozy finish. Outstanding.

Love Barleywines and this, for my tastes, is exceptional. Pours black, small head that disappears quickly, no lacing to speak of. Only thing I don’t like is the wax around the top that makes it a challenge to get to the good stuff.

A - Deep hazy raison color with no lacing or carbonation.

S - Coconut, vanilla, booze, brown sugar, with residual caramel malt.

T - Follows the nose perfectly. Brown sugar, Rum, caramel malt, coconut, vanilla, brown sugar, and ends on the sweeter boozier side.

M - Heavy, syrupy body that's silky smooth and warming in the back of the throat.

O - Big, bold, and in your face.

Drank from a 12 oz. blue sparkle wax dipped bottle purchased at Tree House Brewing Company, Sandwich, MA
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a somewhat thinner than expected, dark mahogany hue. A small film of khaki colored froth topped the body, but it quickly dissolved. There was no head nor any lacing.

The aroma was super sweet and robust. Rich and very malt forward. Caramel and toffee notes dominated. Nice subtle rum barrel presence too. Fragrant vanilla notes also came through strong. Semisweet chocolate was noticeable as well. The nose definitely reminded me of Rollos. Later, there was a hint of citrus.

The flavor profile was solid but not particularly notable. Rich malty notes left things off on the front end. Nice melding of sweet caramel malts and subtle roasted malt notes. Loads of brown sugar too. Nice boozy, rum barrel quality mid palate. Good dose of vanilla as well. Hint of citrus. More lingering sweet, boozy, rum barrel on the back end and in the finish.

The mouthfeel was a bit disappointing. It was medium bodied for the style. Somewhat syrupy but lighter than I anticipated. The liquid contained a fine, somewhat fizzy effervescence.

Tree House’s Tree of Possibility was possibly the best barleywine I have ever tried, but unfortunately this beer was a far cry from it. Both the flavor profile and the mouthfeel on this seemed rather thin and lacked the intensity I was hoping for. Furthermore, the adjuncts were hardly detectable. All in all, this is a pleasant and enjoyable take on the style but not one that I would go out of my way to procure again.
