We were on a quest to make a new phenomenal beer utilizing several rounds of barrel-aging, but we couldn’t settle on the name. Triple Double Oak? Triple Flip Oaked? Triple Drink? Triple Double? Double Check? Orville Mash? A call to our VERY good friend Buzz Clutterbuck sealed the deal: Double-Double Flip. With a metaphorical skid of barrel-forward flavor, Double-Double Flip erupts with a profile that’s like taking a flavor whip to your lip, do you catch me? Double-Double Flip is ready to get buck wild—guaranteed. It is factual. So pull up a chair just there catty-corner to those you love, and bring a parcel of Double-Double Flip to your next buffet. You’re going to enjoy it, end of paragraph

Pours syrupy and still in the glass. Boisterous aromas of bourbon barrel and fudge, with a bit of nougat thrown in. Not too dissimilar from Truth. Flavors are quite aggressively sweet, mostly the same fudgey notes from the aroma. Slight roasty/meaty/oxidized character too. Velvety and super thick mouthfeel. Good stuff but a little over the top and not differentiated much from Truth or other pure barrel aged offerings from TH, which I find a little more balanced

Taste is sweet bourbon, tobacco, cocoa powder, barrel
Mouthfeel is thick, rich, syrupy, mouth coating, luscious

500ml waxed and capped bottle into a Tree House wine glass. Great brewery overall but the wax job is awful to get through.
Pours slick and black like motor oil. Dark mocha legs cling to and wrap the inside of the glass. No head or lace. Nose is chocolate, sweet soy sauce, and tons of barrel. Layers of vanilla and a touch of toasty tartness too. Beer opens chocolate, sweet soy sauce, and black strap molasses. Roasted malt, huge barrel notes, and tobacco in the middle. More toasty tartness, chewy chocolate peat, and over-dried dark fruit in the end and aftertaste. Body is full with low carbonation. Slick and oily on the palate and goes down rich and viscous. Long, lingering, filmy aftertaste.
After a couple of misses with their imperial stout program in recent years, this one gets tree house back on track in my book. Really good.
