Decadent twist on a classic beer from Tree House. This beer is brewed with pale and chocolate malts, which creates a perfectly smooth and balanced base. On top of the base beer, we added extra gobs of peanut butter and cacao that explode with a chocolaty and nutty flavor. With its notes of milk chocolate, dark brown sugar, and roasted peanuts, as well as its velvety texture and indulgent flavors, Hold On To Sunshine – Extra Peanut Butter is like a peanut butter cup in a glass. Please take a moment to reflect upon what you are grateful for and enjoy this beer with your loved ones.

Early-winter 2024 canning; consumed on 5/18/2024
Pours viscous, matte-black body, just under a finger of creamy, dark khaki foam, decent head retention leaves a sliver of cap, modest, frothy collar, and the occasional strand of webby lacing spread tentatively around the walls of the glass.
Aromas of creamy milk chocolate open, with toasted malts easing into hints of peanut butter cup and wavering coffee residuals.
Taste shows toasted malt and general nuttiness upfront as dark chocolate settles over the mid-palate and notes of charred peanut butter cup and a coffee edge mark the finish.
Mouthfeel offers a medium-full body and a gentle puff of moderate-low carbonation, settling to a slick texturing and modest roast past the mid-palate, leaving a clean, distant bittering and delicate stickness lingering through the finish.
A lazy amalgam of unrefined sweetness produces tentative wafts of nuttiness and coffee in a basic, underwhelming presentation; passable yet uninspired.

Pours a deep dark brown color with a half finger of tan head. The peanut butter notes on the nose are fairly mild considering its billing as an "extra" PB offering. The flavor profile starts with a heavier dose of peanut butter than the nose might indicate followed by coffee bitterness which borders on astringency.

Absolutely insane amount of peanut butter on the nose, coupled with chocolate. While pleasantly aromatic, it does overwhelm anything else going on.
A bit more balanced on the profile, although the peanut butter still dominates from mid-sip onward. Granted, it's a variant literally called, "Extra Peanut Butter," and it delivers, so complaining about the peanut butter would be a rather silly exercise. Bitter and roasty up front. While it's not exactly balanced, all of the notes are complementary, in some ways very similar to a robust porter, simply with some flavorings included.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with one half inch head. Taste is big peanut butter, roasted malt and white sugar. Medium body, sweet, low carbonation. Really nice amped up version of HOTS. Thick peanut butter...almost at DuClaw level....the kings of peanut stout.
