We’re pleased to introduce to you our newest smoked bock—Beast of the Peak! Utilizing maple smoked malt from our good friends at Maine-based Blue Ox Malthouse, Beast of the Peak is brewed with a complex mash schedule and lagered for six weeks. Medium bodied and highly drinkable, Beast of the Peak offers notes of doughy bread, caramel, and campfire smoke on the aroma. It additionally showcases the exceptional flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, maple syrup, and raisins. This singular beer may be enjoyed on those cooler spring and summer nights in the company of those you care about, be it at home, by the lake, or just sitting at the campfire.

Poured a hazy dark amber with a frothy gravelly head. Robust smoky aroma. Charred wood, caramel and roasted malt flavors. Moderate mouthfeel with light carbonation. Overall, I was going to ding this one for an overly smoky aroma and flavor, but it works, if you like very smoky beers. Well done!

Canning date Spring 2025. Tasty smoked bock with ample malty flavor and a touch of sweetness from the maple syrup.

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Can is dated summer 2024. Got it from @WunderLlama in NBS BIF #18.
Pours dark, molasses and Coke, big fluffy head with pretty good retention, leaving big fluffy clumps after several minutes in the glass. Clear if you get light behind it, light carbonation. Smell is...grape juice? WTF? I can change it to dates and smoke but in my head, but I had to do it consciously. Seriously don't know how to feel about that, I want to blame schnoz, not the beer. Let's see what my tongue has to say about it before we get too serious.
Fruity vibe is still there, but way more clearly in the dates arena (stewed raisins come to mind, but that's not actually a thing, is it?). Smoke and umami are there, a little barky bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, smooth, somewhat still. Overall...seriously confused here. Now that I've tasted it, I don't get the grape juice in the nose anymore, it's more clearly in the dates and dark, cooked fruit range (though it doesn't take much to flip that switch back).
In terms of scoring...on the first impression, the smell was a one. Now that the taste has cleared that up for me, it's in the 3.5 to 3.75 range. I'm going to lean toward the higher score just because it feels like this is a "me" problem.

A maple-smoked Bock from Treehouse, pours a deep mahogany with a good amount of off-white head. Smell is of wood smoke and malt. Initial taste is of dark fruit and brown bread - rather reminiscent of malt loaf. The smokiness is there too, but never becomes overpowering. Sweet up front, but dry on the finish, leaving a trace of bitterness on the palate. Mouthfeel is pleasantly coating.
A nice beer that hits all the right notes for a smoked beer for me. It reminds me a little of Treehouse's Old World Bourbon Scotch, which I like - this is kind of a scaled back version of that.

Plenty of sweeter elements at play here, brown sugar, molasses, raisins, and a little caramel. These work well with a fairly potent maple smoke note throughout. Nice bbq vibe here.
