This rendition of Hold On To Sunshine was thoughtfully dosed with nitrogen to give this iconic treat a wonderfully velvety texture. A luxurious mouthfeel and exceptionally creamy body contribute to Hold On To Sunshine Nitro feeling much bigger than its constituent parts. This beer has flavorful, bold notes that evolve and express themselves as it warms. Brewed with Pale and Chocolate malts, Lactose, Coffee, Cacao, and Peanut Butter, this beer offers creamy notes of rich milk chocolate, dark brown sugar, creamy espresso, and chocolate-covered peanut butter cups. Life can come at us fast—together we can find solace and comfort in each other, and in something wonderful, equal, and free for everyone to hold on to—Sunshine

Dark as coal with a quick forming tan head that sticks around for a long time. Head coats the glass entirely. Nose is peanut butter, chocolate and coffee. Taste was exactly like the nose, chocolate, peanut butter and coffee. I must say, while the nitro in this beer does provide a smooth velvety mouthfeel, it does not offend my palate like most all other nitro beers do.

never had the non nitro edition of this, and always feel odd about when these beers are listed as unique beers based on the serving method, still the same recipe right? anyway, reviewing it here because this is how i had it, a nitro four pack of pint cans, and very nicely nitrogenated i might add, very frothy headed, enriched feeling, soft and creamy even without the lactose, a sweet and desserty beer with the silky mouthfeel it needs to be set off, i think this element works especially well with the peanut butter for whatever reason. love this not being a huge imperial stout, the abv is modest and i think thats great, a pint feels like a good dose, maybe two. coffee, cacao, and peanut butter in this shiny black beauty sitting gorgeously under two inches of frothed up mocha colored nitro head, looks killer. the peanut is pretty natural in aroma and flavor but still kind of powdered and dusty to me, lacking some richness there, the fattiness, but the rest of the beer makes up for it, the lactose makes it sweet but also adds body, and there is a lot of middle malt in this beefing it up and adding the decadent aspect. notes of molasses and chocolate in the middle for sure, graham cracker, light vanilla, and later more bitterness, char and roast and even a burnt element, which flatters the peanut part i reckon, comes together really well overall. i find that nitro often mutes aromas and sometimes also flavors of beers, but this one seems bold and forward, all elements are easily appreciated, and its hard to imagine it being more intensely flavored in another format, seems unlikely and also kind of unappealing, i love the proportions here. still not quite epic on the peanut butter aspect, which i was expecting this to be given its high ratings and esteem, but its really good beer anyway, love it being bitter on the back end too. delicious and nice with the nitro!
