Four Star is a wet-hopped Tree House pilsner brewed with pale malts and fresh Centennial hops grown and cared for by our friends, Four Star Farms in Massachusetts.
The hops were added to the beer just a few hours following harvest on a dreary Monday morning, and before long the beer came alive with sunny notes of fresh lemon and pine.

12oz can poured into a thin tulip.
A: Dull straw golden with great clarity. Rocky two-finger head retains super well. Sticky clumps of lacing.
S: Strong whiff of earthy hops. Grassy and herbal with a lot of pithiness and some soft lemony notes. Underlying malt base is very grainy with a good dose of toast and dry cracker.
T: Follows the nose pretty directly. The overall impression is quite earthy, both in malt and hop contributions. The hops are gritty, earthy, and lightly herbal with undertones that are both leafy/herbal and lemon grass-y. Notes of pepper in there, too, and some more delicate floral notes. Malt base is grainy and toasty up front. Pretty dry and crackery, too. The finish is trailing cracker with a nice softly herbal and lemon/lime fade.
M: Light bodied and soft, but with a decent fluffy creaminess to it. Carbonation is moderately stiff with a good scrubbing and cleansing action.
O: It's quite solid. I was jonesing for a good fresh hop beer this past fall and this really scratched that itch. The homegrown centennial here very much has its own terroir. Often I get a little cattiness and a stiffer pine-sol and lemon punch from pellets. Here they are much more earthy, but also somewhat more delicate when you get into it and scrutinize. The malt base does exactly what it needs to do while having a little more grain character than the average pils, and the body in particular has that oh-so-nice creaminess. This was far too easy to drink and kind of a sleeper.
