In the hiking world, a cairn is often a trail marker along a path, or an indicator of a summit; they guide trampers on the trails to the top of a mountain. Here at Tree House Brewing Company we believe it is not always about the destination, but journey itself. This series showcases localized malts throughout the Northeast, and each iteration is single hopped with a different American hop.

Cairn Series - Katahdin utilizes pilsner from Blue Ox in Lisbon Falls, ME and Simcoe hops from the Pacific Northwest. Pouring a light golden color, it exhibits notes of vanilla wafer, saltine cracker, fresh strawberry, apricot and raspberry lemon iced tea. It is lightly bodied, smooth, and crisp with a lightly mineral presence. This beer is very delicate and highly drinkable.

A perfect beer for you to savor atop Mount Katahdin's 5,267 ft Maine summit, enjoy your time wandering all the trails that lie ahead.

Sampling a 16 oz can date stamped Autumn 2024. Pouring into a pils glass.
The beer pours a straw gold color with a little bit of cloudiness. A bleached white, soft fluffy head of about 1 cm foams up and sits at that level for most of the sampling. Very many active streams of fine carbonation are rising to the surface.
Aroma is a bit of crackery grain malt and some lemon with a little bit of a floral note and a bit of black tea scent. Well balanced aroma.
First sip reveals a light body and smooth texture with fine tingly carbonation. Beer unsurprisingly drinks very easy on the physical traits.
Flavor is light cracker with hints of sweet honey and again some black tea on the finish. Dry finish that encourages a second sip each time. Slight bite lingers after the swallow.
Very easy to drink and interesting pilsner. Glad to have tried this one.

This one pours a slightly hazy but mostly clear golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

Like the Mt. Marcy version, this also has a nice tea-like floral hop character on the nose, but there’s more fruitiness, and a bit more spiciness of the hops too.

I haven’t tried all the Cairns series, but between this and Mt. Marcy, I like this one better. It’s a bit snappier, with a more varied hop character – tea, stone fruit, lemon, and an earthy spiciness that I really enjoy. There’s a crackery malt character, and just a very smooth overall well integrated flavor profile.

This is light bodied, crisp, clean, and super drinkable.

I really enjoy this series and hope they keep it going.

Pours a light semi opaque yellow color with a short lived fluffy head. Aroma of grain with a lemony touch - I can't really identify it - but there's something else there. Taste is light but flavorful - crackers, lemon, berries, a bit of tartness on the end. Quite a nice and enjoyable beer.

Bright beer. Light straw in color. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma has plenty of cracker with a hint of lemon. Before taking a sip, this beer is easy on the eyes and nose.

Taste follows suit. Cracker, little bit of peppery spice. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Overall, excellent beer.
