Double Barrel Tree of Light is a barrel-aged barleywine ale aged in select bourbon barrels. To capture the myriad of robust notes bourbon offers, after a year of rest this beer was re-racked onto a second round of freshly pulled barrels from some of our favorite makers. A product of time, patience, and carefully studied brewing acumen, this beer has over a decade of learned experience in the making. Pouring a dark hazel color into the glass, notes of sticky toffee pudding, southern baked pecan chewies, and creamy English caramels greet the palate. Following this introduction, bursting aromas of oaky spice and sweet vanilla take center stage. Double Barrel Tree of Light is a beer to be celebrated and enjoyed on a special occasion

Tier 1 BA barleywine. Only knock would be it's really thick. Personal prefrence for that, so a lot of people will not have that issue

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter. Thick, creamy and lightly sweet. Excellent.

Pours pitch black color with a small tan head that faded on the faster side and left close to no lacing. Smells of caramel, butterscotch, dark chocolate, rum, molasses, raisins, figs, brown sugar and toffee. The nose does not come off as sweet considering the lineup of the aroma, and there is no sign of the ABV. Taste leans on the sweeter side but it's not cloying, with some hoppy accents coming through which give off floral accents and some mild peppery spices. The flavor is dominated by caramel tones including molasses, brown sugar, rum, toffee, dates, dark fruit like raisin and black cherry, then followed by bourbon, vanilla, maple syrup, bread pudding, figs, soy sauce, flat Coke, dark chocolate and charred oak. This is a next level barleywine that hides the ABV perfectly and goes down much easier than it should considering that the feel is thick and heavy. Very happy I have another bottle aging, this was excellent.

Dark brown almost black like a stout. Thick and coats the side of the glass. Flavor is reminiscent of some of the best barley wines I've ever tasted. It's only flaw is that it is just a bit on the sweet but not overwhelmingly so. Raisin, toffee, bourbon.

Pours a deep, rich, amber brown, with a small brown head that dissipates quickly. Tons of sticky legs coat the glass when swirled!
Bold nose of figs, dates, nougat, burnt caramel, and charred oak! Some sweet, red apple, pipe tobacco, leather, and coconut reveal themselves the more you explore!
The taste is quite rich, and the sweetness just borders on the line of cloying, but never crosses it. It leans more into the caramel, nougat, and coconut notes than the dark fruit notes, but they're still there. The bourbon is very much there, but it isn't hot. Some peanut brittle reveals itself as it warms.
The mouthfeel is incredible! Super smooth, thick, round, and surprisingly dry on the finish (in a good way)! It's coats your mouth and the flavor lingers for ages!
Just an absolutely stupendous BA barleywine! This is up there with some of the greats in the style!

Compared to the single barrel version - which was a standout favorite for me - the double barrel seems to take some sharpness away that I liked. It has all that caramel and toffee, but without some bourbon kick and it borders on too sweet.
Still a great, enjoyable beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a small stemmed tulip
Thanks to @WunderLlama for this one!!
The beer pours deep brown (nearly black), with no visible highlights. An aggressive pour yields a very small head that recedes quickly, leaving behind very little lacing.
The aroma is bourbon, coffee, caramel, chocolate, and vanilla.
The flavor is huge and sweet and roasty! There are notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and a huge bourbon barrel character. Full bodied and viscous, lightly carbonated.
What a great beer! by far one of the best Barleywines I have had. Phenominal

This one pours a very dark brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells nutty and caramelly, with leathery and spicy bourbon, oak, and vanilla.
This is one of the best barleywines I’m going to have all year – it’s absolutely a stunner. It’s so chewy and densely malty – with caramel, pecan, maple, brown sugar, roast, chocolate, toffee, and molasses. There’s a wonderful spicy oak, vanilla, and leathery barrel character to this, too. It all melds together exceptionally well.
This is medium bodied, very creamy, very rich, and not that boozy, with a great drinkability.
This represents the peak for me of Tree House’s barrel program – this is stunning.

Molasses and toffee, chocolate-covered raisins, a touch of leather and oak, and a vanilla-bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with a delicious, caramel-toffee malty and well-integrated bourbon barrel boozy heat finish. Wow...this is really well done! The barrels play so well with the caramel malty vibes that it makes for an ultra-smooth swallow on the backend. This is by far Tree House's best barleywine to date IMO. Outstanding Lyfe!
