Critical Mass is a triple IPA pouring a pale straw color with clouds of white foam rising above the glass. Utilizing a massive dose of Citra hops, notes of grapefruit juice, mango smoothies, and tangerine sorbet float above its creamy base. Additionally, a charge of the experimental variety EXP 2B from our friends at the Hop Guild ignites our senses with a unique profile. Within its piney finish, notes of Asian pear, floral quince, and syrupy honeydew melon linger on the palate. This beer is the result of tried-and-true processes applied to the cutting edge of our craft.

(16 oz can, 7.10.2025; purchased cold by my bro... poured into a teku)

L: raw honey liquid - opacity and color; dense, creamy foam, dimplin' and craterin' on the recede... lacing in thick streaks, but cap don't hold

S: bit o honey, with lemon mash and apricot essence... (dried) lemon balm and tonic as it goes... all peripheral accents, little depth

T: out on a limb, but some spicy cantaloupe up front with a rather unmistakable dried strawberry note in the finish... milkshake-y aftertaste, malted oat balls, the expression of which grows sip over sip, as does the green spicy bite of the hopping... little oaty expression, likely owing to the pungent hop charge... almost a guava-orange-pineapple bent halfway through in the backwash

F: bitterness prickles ever so slightly, the earlier spice emanating like capasicum heat... decidedly round and feather-plump... back of tongue/palate lit up with a consumer-grade nuclear glow... one of the more stridently-honed displays of booze and bite in the style

O: the intro set me up for a fruited roller coaster, but the bitterness and supporting ethanol are just a notch or two too sharpened, leaving me with something like tastes like a malted screwdriver... not driven to down the rest; nah, I'm good (2444)

Fully opaque OJ orange with a lumpy beige head of moderately tall height that hollows out in the center and hovers almost like lambic foam.

Far more balanced than expected for a TIPA, tropical but also Asian fruits collide with a bit of triple sec or some sort of liqueur, yet it's not hot, just a bit biting and tingly. Frothy of course, some classic Tree House yeast hints at sweet pink bubblegum balanced by rinds and a cotton dry finish.

Had on tap at Sarat. Pours hazy, pale yellow in color with one inch head. Taste is big mango juice, with a touch of starfruit. Heavy body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter with a sugary backbone. Way better as it warms tasty and big.
