Moment of Clarity Barrel Blend is an American Milk Stout carefully brewed and conditioned with coffee, chocolate, and dark amber maple syrup. The young beer is then combined with threads of aged Milk Stout which rested in some of our favorite bourbon producers' barrels. It pours beautifully in the glass with a luxurious, mousse-like head and a dense body. It exhibits strong maple and coffee aromas on the nose, which give way to notes of chocolate-covered maple cream candies. The barrel component adds layers of vanilla and bourbon aromas with a subtle oaky spice note on the finish. Though it is rich with flavor, it still maintains a certain fluffiness that makes it easy and pleasant to drink. It is a wonderful and decadent treat that, for us, evokes the feeling of a lazy Sunday morning by the fire, a full cup of coffee, and a pile of chocolate chip waffles drizzled with bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup.

Pours black and settles onyx black in the glass with a creamy mocha colored head that lingers as a nice little cap on the beer and provides nice ringlets of lacing. Beautiful BA imperial stout.
The nose features some roasty coffee, LOADS of rich milk chocolate and maple syrup, and a bit of oak from the barrel, all of which translate to the taste, with that maple/chocolate flavor truly delicious.
The mouthfeel is chewy and creamy, perfect for this BA imperial milk stout. World class stuff, IMHO.

Poured from a 16 oz can "dated" as Spring 2026, but packaged 1/30/26 based on their IG.
Pours a black color with an inch of mocha brown head. Impressive sheets/rings of lace are left as the beer is consumed.
Aromas of maple candy and chocolate on the nose. Some coffee notes in the background. Smells delicious.
Rich flavors of dark roast coffee and dark chocolate, with maple flavors there to sweeten the coffee notes. Notes of bourbon, vanilla and oak come on in the finish, adding more complexity.
Medium to full body but not too thick. The beer coats the palate, allowing the flavors to linger there for a while but gradually let go without coating the mouth.
Moment of Clarity is one of my favorites from Tree House, and the blending of barrel-aged with fresh adds to the complexity of the stout.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like sweet fluffy pancakes with maple, vanilla, and milk chocolate.
I know this is a blend of young beer and barrel aged beer, but honestly, the barrel aged portion doesn’t come out very strongly. What’s most evident is the sort of fluffy pastry quality of this – it’s super silky and creamy, with vanilla, lots of maple, and lots of milk chocolate. The lactose aspect of this is definitely strong.
This is very creamy, pretty thick, bordering on syrupy, and not too boozy.
This was pretty solid but there have been many other coffee stouts that I’ve had from Tree House that were better than this.

16 oz can dated Spring 2026
Pours black with a dense creamy dark brown colored foam head. Smells like super rich sweet strong dark amber maple syrup, fresh roasted coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla cream, some oaky bourbon barrel, caramel, toffee, toasty caramelized brown sugar, hint of dried fruits, char, and mild earthy hop. Tastes like maple cream candy, rich sweet dark amber maple syrup, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla cream, caramel, toffee, toasty caramelized brown sugar, char, bourbon oak barrel, some baking spice, mild tobacco, subtle leather, slight pretzel, chocolate chip cookie, waffles, pancakes, raisiny dried fruit, and mild earthy hop. Feels medium-full bodied, super soft, silky and smooth with creamy low carbonation. Overall a really great barrel blended imperial milk stout with coffee, chocolate and maple syrup.
