We kick off the Quadruple Whammy next weekend on the 16th with a brett barrel aged version of Monogamy Centennial, bottle-conditioned with apricot and peach. This one spent a year in barrels with several strains of brett, before being blended into a tank with fruit. The resulting beer is all about brett-derived aromatics, flavours of stone fruit, and was finished with a soft carbonation.

Appropriately named for a Mother's Day tasting...
Overall, this is another great example of the innovative things happening at Bellwoods. The lovely balance of malt, funk, stone fruit and Brett make this a refreshing and distinctive brew. A bit more carbonation might have helped with the overall "jam". I wouldn't walk 500 miles to track it down, but wouldn't turn it down, either.

Nice foamy head leaves a little lace.
Pleasant apricot and peach aroma, with some underlying leather.
The centennial hops mesh really well with the fruit, which also marshes with the Brett. Really digg'n the flavour.
Well-attenuated, moderate body has a slight hint of acidity with an off dry finish. It could use a little more carbonation.
Thanks bakagaijin!

Smell: Fermented peach, woody, sour pineapple, tart apricot.
Taste: Sour bread, rotting fruit, acidic, low carbon.
Finish: Dry, sour unsweetened orange juice.
(bottled Oct 2015)
Low mark does not reflect the quality of the beer but my relative dislike of SOUR tastes...this one in particular

Huge thanks to TheSevenDuffs for this bottle.
Pours a beautiful hazy orange sunset colour with 2-3 fingers of tight white head which quickly dissipates leaving a thin rim.
Upfront notes of light brett, barnyard and funky which morphs into sharp tartness of underripe stone fruit. Ripe sweet apricots and peaches on the finish. Nicely complex
The brett doesn't overpower the fruit, and compliments it's rather well, although I would have enjoyed more fruit forward in the flavour.

Big thanks to iguenard for the bottle!
Pours an orange-hay color with a very thin fizzy, bubbly head with no retention or lacing. The nose has some oak, light Brett funk, some sweet citrus, a touch of pepper. The taste also features a bit of Brett funk, lemon rind, some sweet fruit (peaches?), with a tart and bittering hop finish. Medium-light body but still, almost no carbonation.

Purchased from the brewery’s adjacent retail store, Monogamy came in a brown 500 ml bottle with no visible production or ‘best before’ date. 7.2% alcohol by volume.
Monogamy poured an opaque apricot colour, with a very aggressive pour required to raise ¼” of bubbly white head. The minimal head disappeared in a hurry, leaving behind a very thin collar and small film of foam in the centre of the glass. Some minor lacing was left behind as the beer level dropped. The aroma was a bit odd…peach, apricot and plastic band-aid. Though it wasn’t offensive, I’m really hoping that the band-aid smell doesn’t carry over into the taste…and the beer Gods have granted my wish. The taste reminded me very much of a flavoured Gueuze, with apricot, peach and dry champagne all ending with a very mild bitterness. Monogamy had a relatively soft carbonation, light body and dry mouthfeel. Overall, a tasty brew, but not one of my favourites from this notable brewery.

Bottle: Poured a hazy dirty beige color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention. Aroma of light citrusy hops with some light fruit flavors and some light funky notes. Taste is also dominated by citrusy notes with some light funky notes and some light tart apricot notes. Body is pretty full for style with good carbonation. Interesting thought Brett could have been even more upfront.
