Collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing

Our first ever collaboration was brewed at our Ossington Ave brewpub with Jeppe of Evil Twin. We made a pale ale named Fruit Helmet and 5 years later decided to reinvent this beer. This 2017 version was brewed using lactose and fermented with guava, passionfruit, and raspberries. The result is a combination of beer and juice with a smooth body and huge aroma.

Really hazy pink grapefruit juice color with off-white head. Aroma is really juicy with pink grapefruit flesh, lactose and some dank hops. Taste is tart, juicy, fruity, quite hoppy with unripe peaches and pink grapefruit flavor. Medium plus body with medium carbonation. Really nice, juicy, fruity, tart pale ale.

This beer is great right from the start. The look is hazy pink with a cap of white foam. The smell is amazing, with a lovely fruit bouquet where the passion fruit dominates. The taste brings all the fruit flavors together, the passion fruit stands out to me, but the guava certainly shines as well. Very smooth feel.

What a great beer. This refreshing and easy to drink beer.

Bottle at Culaccino in Burlington into a teku glass. Cost a small fortune, however for a one off i guess it may have been worth it to try. If price is the same would much rather go with some of their seriously well regarded imperial stouts.

Appearance - Pinkish with orange and salmon colors. Hazy as hell (hence the milkshake distinction). Some head sticks around from the initial finger and change.

Smell- Loads of guava and passionfruit and that's pretty much all I get, natural juiciness of a tropical variety and very little else.

Taste - Guava, passionfruit mostly. Some bitterness. Raspberry shows up at the end. The bitterness compliments the fruit profile nicely.Lots of nice, but not quite as juicy or as intense as I was expecting.

Mouthfeel - Super, duper smooth although not necessarily creamy. Medium heavy feel although seem slighter than you'd expect based on appearance.

Overall - Pretty yummy although I guess this is concentrated alcoholic fruit juice. Had slightly higher expectations given the price tag and was hoping for more intense fruitiness. Nonethless a well crafted beer that is worthy of a sample (or two or three)
