473 mL can; dated Feb 6 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours turbid and cloudy, its pale yellow-hued body capped with one finger of loose, soapy white head that lasts for a couple of minutes. Its remnants include a tight collar surrounding a filmy cap, with little in the way of lace. Fruity, unique and appealing aroma of sweet apples, nectarine, mission fig and pear.
The flavours are along the same lines: orchard fruits figure in strongly, with bits and bobs of other stuff along the way. I'm getting apricot, pear, kumquat and fig, as well as shades of grapefruit, Fuji apples and green banana. Citrus and stone fruit wind things down, blended with mild to moderate pine sap bitterness; all of these flavours dissipate into the aftertaste. On the fuller side of medium-bodied and gently carbonated, with a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel that feels plush on the tongue. Great drinkability.
Final Grade: 4.12, an A-. Monogamy Rakau is a very solid single hop IPA, and I must say that this nearly six-month old serving is holding up exceptionally well. I definitely liked it more than the Citra variant, which is the only other Monogamy I've had thus far - Rakau is a more versatile strain, I think, which allows it to shine in this format in a manner which Citra just doesn't. Highly recommended - I will definitely be seeking this beer out again.
