Green Velvet and its new alter ego, Purple Paisley, are a symbiotic team, a codependent duo, an ego-less partnership delivering delicate and flavourful hop experiences.
Purple Paisley is designed to be a balanced IPA with a tad more fruity oomph than Green Velvet with notes of blackberry, pineapple sage, and sour grape candy finish.

Pours a very small head with minimal lacing. Yellow cream-orange IPA color. Pineapple aroma.
Initial taste is hoppy and tropical. Pretty nice. Easy to drink overall with some citrous after tastes. Just an average IPA, but with higher ABV%.

This one pours yellow and hazy as a nice beer should be. But sometimes looks can be deceiving. The head...oh, no it's gone already. The nose is slightly too malty for my taste, but there is some citrus there as well. Regrettably, the taste is too malty and generally a slight mess. Dry finish.
Bellwoods misses the IPA mark again, like they too often do.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 31 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours cloudy and turbid, kicking up one finger of tight, foamy white head that vanishes within ninety seconds or so. A dense collar of creamy froth remains seated atop its apricot yellow-hued body, encircling a sudsy cap. Not a lot of lace initially, but there's some deposition as the level drops with a sip or two - looks almost exactly like Green Velvet. Appealing berry-like aroma that includes notes of grape candy, raspberry and lychee, as well as Honeycrisp apple, pineapple and orange juice.
A quality IPA, though the aroma outshines the flavour profile IMO. I'm tasting pineapple, plum and mango, with hints of orange, blackberry and grapefruit also coming through, assisted by a backdrop of bready malt and oat sweetness. Floral, herbal and a little spicy on the back end with moderate bitterness; sage, thyme and lemon then dissipate into a fruity, slightly acidic aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with average carbonation that gently agitates the surface of the palate; reasonably drinkable, but one can per night is enough for me.
Final Grade: 4.08, an A-. Purple Paisley is a pretty unique IPA, one which I am inclined to rank above its sibling, Green Velvet. The nose, with its compelling bouquet of berry-like hop notes, was what sold me on this one - it tastes great, too, though I'm not sure I'd put this forth as one of Bellwoods' strongest efforts in the pale ale department. Worth trying if you can find it, and something I will undoubtedly return to the next time I'm fortunate enough to stumble upon some fresh stock.

473ml can from the brewery. Served cold into a pint glass. Canned December 19, 2023.
Appearance - Hazy and turbid looking dark gold brew. Half finger of foamy white head rests on top a creeps away gradually. Juice like in appearance .
Smell - Monster fruity notes of mango and cantaloupe. Lychee is in there too. Sweet and intense aromatics.
Taste - Some mango and lychee with a pinch of pineapple for good measure. Nectarines as well. Solid wall of creamy malt behind all the fruitiness. ABV is noticeable but not intrusive. Medium bitterness throughout.
Mouthfeel - Fairly full bodied and creamy, also juicy with a smooth finish. Moderate carbonation makes this an easy drinking brew with the creaminess.
Overall - A very good IPA, and probably one of my favorite from Bellwoods, long catalog list of unique IPA's. Definitely a winner and worth trying if you can get your hands on it for any hophead.

Pours hazy apricot with a fluffy, long lasting head. Tangerines, mango, pineapple and apple hop notes in the nose. The taste is highly bitter with loads of tropical fruit hops. Subtle pale bready malts in the back. The mouthfeel is full bodied with light carbonation. High bitterness in the long lasting, fruity finish.
A nice IPA with quite an aggressive hop profile. Worth a try.
