473 mL can from the brewery; dated Apr 10 2026 and served barely chilled. A collaboration with Kilter Brewing in Winnipeg, this is the 2026 release. The original (2024) Jutsii was literally just a blend of Bellwoods' Jutsu and Kilter's Juicii, but this year's iteration adds Manilita hops to the mix, as well.
Pours a hazy, turbid pale dandelion yellow, capped with one finger of loose, bubbly white head that isn't long for this world. Less than two minutes later, it has been reduced to a thin collar and a filmy patch on the surface, with a meandering curtain of lace clinging to the glass. It smells of peaches, mango and grapefruit, with hints of dank, floral hops and pineapple.
Fruity and a little sweet at the forefront, with notes of tangerine, peach, mango and fresh pineapple, supported by hints of bready, wheaty malts. Melon and pink grapefruit develop soon after, with a dank, grassy bitterness rearing its head late in the sip; it's not that strong, and it certainly doesn't last, as the conclusion reverts back to sweet tropical fruits & citrus that dissipate into the aftertaste. Nearing full-bodied, with restrained carbonation and a pillowy-soft, exceedingly smooth mouthfeel, which might be my favourite aspect of this brew. Highly crushable for 6.5%.
Final Grade: 4.03, an A-. It took a few sips for me to warm up to Jutsii, but I think it's a pretty well-rendered hazy IPA. I would've liked a little more oomph on the nose, but the tropical fruit/citrus flavours are nice, and it's *so* easy to toss back. I'd just as soon stick with Jutsu, but this hybrid is a pretty good offshoot worth seeking out - that is, assuming these two breweries collaborate on a third batch some day.
