Poured a gorgeous cloudy orange/straw color with golden highlights when held to light and one finger of thick, bubbly white head. Overall impression of appearance is of an amazing darker saison, one of the best. Scents barnyard funk, horse blanket and sweat at light levels with moderate levels of lemon zest and rind and beautiful phenols of white pepper, light toasty malt of a darker saison and a nice earthy quality in the background. Overall impression of aroma is of an amazing saison, deep, barnyard, phenolic, a true farmhouse ale that showcases the rustic character of the style. Flavor begins crisply phenolic with white pepper at the forefront, blending quickly with lemon zest and light funky flavors with light hay as well. Malt character is light and toasty. Middle continues these flavors though it gets drier and more dominated by lemon zest and white pepper with light funk. Finish is dry, again white pepper, lemon zest and light funk with a light toastiness and medium-light bitterness. Aftertaste is white pepper with light lemon zest. Overall impression of flavor is of an excellent saison, true to style and with a nice refreshing character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with effaevescent carbonation and a drying feel. Overall impression of flavor is of a nice saison. Overall this is a very nice saison. It has an excellent aroma and fantastic flavor, true to form a nice saison.
