This is a new offering from Dragoon described as "a beautiful golden IPA made from a simple grist of Pilsner, oat, and crystal malt with generous additions of Mosaic, Centennial, Amarillo, Citra, and Galaxy hops." The three attributes at the bottom are "crisp, hoppy, swift."
Sold as a 4-pk of 16 oz cans for $11.99, poured into a Spiegelau glass.
L - Pours a clear, golden straw color with about a finger of soapy white head and a steady stream of carbonation. Looks clean like a lager/pilsner.
S - Citrus rind, tropical fruit, peach, honey, grassy hops, pine, typical IPA smells.
T - Follows the nose with citrus rind, tropical fruit, some white grape juice, bready malt, slightly alcoholic bite, very balanced between bitter and sweet.
F - Light-to-medium, bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp, drinks almost like a light beer, which is deceiving for an IPA, but it's very drinkable and refreshing.
O - A nice offering from Dragoon. I've never had a "golden IPA" nor do I know what Galaxy hops are, but you could say it's out of this world. It's slightly sweeter and lighter than their flagship IPA, but a very solid brew overall.
