Dark black colored brew, presents in only a 10oz glass so there isn't much head, but the thin foam has a nice tan/espresso color. Less roasty in the aroma than expected, it's got a semi-sweet chocolate smell, strong toffee notes, with only mild alcohols.
The Dos tastes very drinkable and mellow in alcohol for such a strong brew. Toffee flavor tends to dominate with chocolate and very subtle hints of coffee as well. The beer is a little sweeter than I'd prefer, lacking a more intensely roasted bitter finish for contrast. I felt the hop balance was more robust when this first released back in April, but that now seems less noticeable. As I said before, it goes down easy, and the mouthfeel has that thick smoothness where it's like I'm drinking chocolate milk. The carbonation is appropriate.
Overall a good strong Stout. Not quite as impressive as I remember The Uno to have been, but again noticeably more easy to drink which is scary. I would prefer this be available in the colder months, but I suppose we don't have much of a winter in Tucson, so perhaps it doesn't matter. I would recommend trying this beer for sure though, especially as a dessert beer.
