Rideshare is bursting with peach, orange, and tropical fruit flavors. Expect a classic piney, “west coast” bitter finish.
We were super stoked to create a beer with our friends at Pizza Port. They’re a San Diego classic, and we have much respect for them, their culture, and of course, their beer. We are both very passionate about hops, so we decided to hand select these hops together. You’ll find Idaho 7, Amarillo, and Talus (cryo) in this beer.

Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.49
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 11, 2021
Consumed: July 10, 2021
Misc.: Collab with Pizza Port; Canned on June 7, 2021
Went to Windmill Farms to grab some stuff for Chad and $113 later I had way too much beer. Would be an interesting collab for me, two breweries - Societe and Pizza Port - who I think are slightly overrated in terms of IPAs. Online description read “We teamed up with the Pizza Port Brewing Co. crew to bring you Rideshare, a 6.8% West Coast IPA. We were super stoked to create a beer with our friends at Pizza Port. It smells like hops, tastes like hops.. it’s a West Coast IPA.” Not that much a fan of Idaho 7, but definitely one of Amarillo and the newish Talus hop.
Poured a medium yellow clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of frothy white head. Could see some fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom and along the sides of the glass. World-class foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
The Idaho 7 jumped out on the nose. Also herbal, tea, pine, spoiled orange rind, hop oil, Amarillo, light Talus, caramel and wood. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Something just a little off for me. Got Idaho 7, herbal, tea, pine, spoiled orange rind, melon, peach, hop oil, Amarillo, Talus, caramel and wood. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Very good overall, about what I expected from these two breweries. (Overall - 3.75)

If you can share a ride, then you can share a beer recipe. Societe Brewing and Pizza Port team up for a collaboration IPA that share its accolades.
With the hops of Talus and Idaho 7 carrying the bulk of the work, Ride Share first pours faintly hazy and with a light golden color. As a frothy and airy head builds, the carryover scent is fruit forward with citrus, orchard fruit, tropical and floral qualities. With a hint of cream and spruce, the nose transitions to a crisp malt flavor of wafer, light honey and a general grain-centric sweetness.
As the hops rise to take command of the taste, a candied sense of pink grapefruit, lime, nectarine and pineapple after the floral nature subsides and the malts fade to a crisp support. As a creamy sense of coconut, vanilla, guava and lychee seem to stick around, the sweeter hop variety begins to fade into a spicy bitterness with gripping resins of pine, cedar and balsa to finish.
Medium bodied, crisp and refreshing, Ride Share is a throwback IPA texture but with a new world fruitiness and softness, proving that the classic American IPA can always receive and update. Its finishes sprucy with gin-like botaincals with an afterglow of fruit peels in tow.

Copper color with a white head. Atypical is this head sticks around and sticks to the glass making nice lacing. Nose is slightly sweet and VERY floral. Taste hits all the check boxes. Bitterness with a dryness. Has an ever so slight hint of dark chocolate initially that gives way to citrusy bitterness.
