We’re stoked to be collaborating with Moonlight Brewing, an OG traditional brewery based out of Northern California. We wanted to collaborate on a beer that was a nod to the classic styles. This Black IPA is a true brewer’s delight, so we put the brew log right on the can (the ones that get it, get it).
Featured Hops:

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: Black / Cascadian Dark Ale
Glass: Monkish 16-oz. mug
Price: $3.89
From: Windmill Farms in San Diego (Del Cerro), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 6, 2023
Consumed: Jan. 14, 2023
Misc.: Collaboration with Moonlight Brewing Company; Canned on Dec. 6, 2022
Went to Windmill Farms and came away with nine solo cans, and two 6-packs. Bine & Vine’s website described this beer as “This Black IPA collab is a brewer’s delight. It’s a true brewer’s beer, balancing roasty malt with a hoppy edge. It was made for the sake of making and to enjoy with friends!” Featured hops were CTZ, Citra, Chinook, Amarillo and Centennial.
Poured a pitch-black color with eight fingers of khaki-white rocky head. Could see just a few bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Liked the smell. In order got Chinook, wood, smoky malts, semi-char wood, menthol, herbal, CTZ, Citra, grapefruit, black licorice and bark. Not quite as good from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got Chinook, wood, smoky malt, semi-char wood, herbal, menthol, CTZ, Citra, grapefruit, black licorice, bark and citrus rind. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was nice. Happy to see this style making its way back around. Outstanding overall. (Overall - 4.00)

Cafe noir brown in appearance, capped by two fingers of luxurious tan, frothy head. Aromas of barley, biscuit, chocolate, grapefruit, orange peel, pine, and spice. Taste follows w/ additional hints of peach, melon, and a distinct, clean bitterness. Mouthfeel is a tad thin w/ subtle lingering effects. Nicely done.
