12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---Deep, clear amber color with a thick off-white head with zero retention. Good lacing.

S---Spices. Yeast & floral notes.

T---Malty. I can see this is a Belgian inspired effort, but I wouldn't peg it as a saison if the label didn't say so. Fruity, but vaguely so, I can't tell which fruits they might be. Maybe some honey.

F---Heavier and meatier than I think of a saison being. Well carbonated.

O---Not nearly as disappointing as I usually find Evil Genius. It's actually not bad at all, it just doesn't seem in most ways to be a saison. If they called it something else, I'd probably rate it higher, but they're the ones who said, "saison".

On tap at Morris Tap and Grill in Randolph. Pours a golden effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Candied aroma replete with hints of sugar and citrus. Similar overall flavor profile.

Acquired in a beer swap. Undated bottle, but given the name and the fact that I'm drinking it in February tells me it's a few months old. Pours a clear amber with a modest eggshell-white head. Initial impression is fruity sweetness, followed by a slight tartness. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Tart finish. I'm not a fan of Belgians, nor of farmhouse ales, but this was tolerable.

A- copper color with gold tints. Little to no head and minimal lacing.

S- flower aroma with hints of tea and black pepper. Strong on the booze as well.

F- strong flavor of flowery hop and honey/tea malt.

M- chewy and medium bodied. Like drinking a flower with honey drizzled on it.

O- not bad..have had worse and have had better. it gets harder to finish as i go deeper into the bottle.

A: crystal clear; medium gold in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: Belgian yeast, bread, and black pepper;

T: Belgian yeast for a moment, then the rose hops become prominent; there is some fruity sweetness as well, but I associate black currants tartness, so I'm not sure; the sweetness is related to the back currants; no bitterness;'

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: a nice beer, but I'm not sure that all the additions make it through to the aroma and /or flavor;
