festive sasions.
A: Beautiful cream soda-orange pour, slight ghost hazing with a density of micro effervesce. Thin white capping is weak on the hold dissipating quickly.
S: Fresh wet wintery pine, cola, and fresh fruit of whole peaches, apricots.. Light aroma overall some fresh marzen malt.
T: Cream soda flavor, oranges, some spicy xmas helpings of cinnamon, ginger and cypress. Some nutmeg and honey mixture. A lasting dusting of dry cinnamon aftertaste on tongue.
M: Creamy and thick mouthful, spritzy carbonation and warming of x-mas spices and alcohol on inner cheek.
O: Overall i'm usually more impressed with this brewery's offerings. Nice mouthful and body, but more of a subtle flavor and nose, a bit more reserved than usual.

Light amber, slightly opaque. Spicy aroma. Taste was very heavy on camomile, almost overwhelming. I did let one sit for a while and the camomile calmed down and it became a nice drinkable Belgian blonde-ish beer. Decent carbonation and medium feel.

Slightly cloudy dark amber, khaki head, retention isn't so great, decent lace.
Deep toasted bread aroma, some dried fruit and earthy/floral aromas as well
Bread and caramel, some dark fruit, an earthiness that I can't quite put my finger on, a hint of spice
Light bodied but with an odd syrupiness, could use some more carbonation.
Interesting, but wouldn't try again.

Pretty amber color with a heavy orange tint and a head that disappears pronto. Nose has some light Christmas spice and a definite Belgian yeast note. This is a bit of an odd combination because the sweetness and flavors you are expecting in a Christmas Ale are not really there. I do get some floral and dark fruit notes, along with grapeskin and a healthy dose of carbonation that rides the thick but delicate texture. Kind of cool, but will probably be going with something a little more traditional next week. Definitely worth a try, though.

Canned 10/26/20
And just like that, we're back to the discount rack. I picked this up about 2 months ago for $1 and kinda just forgot about it in the back of my fridge until now. It definitely seems like an odd one, but I'm in the mood for something different tonight. Let's see what it's all about
Pours an opaque orange brown with a finger of white head that quickly settles to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
Oh boy, where do we begin with the nose on this one? This is strange and not exactly saison-esque, but I'm quite liking it. I'm picking up on aromas of chamomile tea, musty basement, wildflower honey, lemon zest, and a hint of black currant
This tastes weird too, but a different weird than the aroma. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting subtle rose and funky yeast, but it's really nondescript and dull. The swallow opens up the flavors a lot, bringing notes of raw honey, chamomile, fresh baked bread, and earthy black currant
A medium body and almost no carbonation results in a beer that is initially watery, but thickens up a bit after the swallow. Finishes mostly dry with a nice balance of bready malt and the herbal adjuncts
This was a fuckin strange beer, no doubt about it, but I think it's more than the sum of its parts. Truly unique despite not being the best, and I could see myself drinking it again around Christmas time

I don't think this is a saison, but more of a Christmas Ale. With that in mind, if you are looking for a saison, don't buy it. If your looking for a Christmas beer that is not overly spiced this is not a bad brew.

Look - darker and more amber than a traditional Saison.
Smell - strongly seasoned. The seasoning overwhelms the normal saison grassy aromas.
Taste - Good balance. Clove and chamomile. Really interesting flavor mixture.
Feel - Easy to drink.
Overall - a unique and solid holiday beer.

I don't normally think "Holiday Brew" when I think of a saison, but this kinda worked...
I picked this up on the name alone, not really looking to see what it was. I basically assumed it was a stout or porter. Once I got home, cooled it down, and got around to trying it (today), the damn thing was a saison. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, but once I started drinking it I had an altogether different experience than what I expected. Great looking beer, decent smell and mouthfeel, with a very appealing taste. Overall, I was way more impressed than I thought I would be. Maybe not your traditional holiday beer, but one worth a try.
