We brewed this Saison with Tamarind, a pod-like fruit used in many cuisines. Tamarind brings an earthy flavor and a subtle tangy, tart, tongue-tingly finish to this otherwise super dry, crisp Saison.

This beer was live and we'll at pizza parlor on green and washington. It poured a clear copper with thin white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had Belgian spice. The taste was bolstered by Belgian sugar and spice. The Mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall ot was good...but not really my style.

Served on tap at DryHop Brewers in a 12oz snifter.

The beer pours a cloudy copper color with strong hues of orange, a thick finger of soapy white head appears, but dissipates quickly leaving some trace film and a few spots of lace behind. The aroma is fairly fruity, the tamarind adjunct presents itself boldly, mild berry fruit and light stone fruit flesh is noticeable, but a dominant banana aroma takes over with some richer, sweet malt and spice. The flavors are similar, plenty of fruit, interesting tanginess to it, tamarind and berries at first with light peach skin behind it before the banana flavor washes over and brings out the sugary and sticky malt. The mouthfeel is okay, the beer is fullbodied and a bit chewy, carbonation is present but not aggressive, coats the mouth well and finishes easily.

Verdict: I think the tamarind is well showcased, but unfortunately, the underlying saison isn't the best beer to begin with. It's heavy, clunky and a bit dark for my taste with none of the traditional funk being present. This was fairly refreshing at brunch and I had no problems finishing my glass, but perhaps I'll stick to the hoppier offerings from now on.
