We invited Transient Artisan Ales in to brew this traditional saison with 50 gallons of pressed pear juice and hyssop. Slightly sweet upfront with a delicious tart finish.

32oz crowler poured into a Jester King stemmed wine glass.
The beer pours a clear copper, orange color, a few bubbles race around and a finger of thick, white head appears but vanishes to nothing quickly and leaves no lace. The aroma is okay, a little funky, crusty bread, spicey yeast, lightly fruity with the pear juice aroma showing well, a bit of coriander as well in the background. The flavors mirror the aroma, funky, musty, rustic but lightly citrusy and fruity with a distinct pear flavor at the end. The mouthfeel is okay, coats fairly nicely, indiscriminate carbonation, gentle but heavy body and a crisp finish.
Verdict: A decent saison with pear from DryHop and Transient. Given Transient's newfound distinction for farmhouse style, I had some higher hopes, but all in all it's a fine enough beer. Easy to enjoy and while not complex, the simplicity almost works out as there isn't much to think about, easy refreshment.
