16 oz canned 01-07-2021
a: aggressive pour gives a large 2 1/2 finger tan khaki head. very dark brown (essentially black except at certain angles where the light peeks through)
s: dark chocolate, rye, oak char, light vanilla
t: starts with nicely layered chocolate sprinkled with notes of rye. On the finish the barrel comes through with bourbon, oak and vanilla.
m: creamy body. medium carbonation. a slickness quality as well.
o: Have had this refrigerated since the release back in 2021 and it's drinking very well. Perhaps it has mellowed a bit from the release but don't quote me on that. This was my last can from the Part 1 release and this beer was a fantastic way for Rev and HA to start their collaboration series. They've recently announced they are working on Part 3 (On & On & On). Can't wait to see what two of the best IL breweries come up with next.

Canned on 1/7/2021; consumed on 3/31/2022
Pours a clean black-jet mahogany body topped with three fingers of airy, taut, khaki-hued foam; great head retention yields a thin layer of cap, a large, creamy collar, and ample webs of chunky lacing distributed in waves around the walls of the glass.
Aroma highlights a refined cocoa dusting with touches of balancing bready rye spice upfront, developing soft touches of milk chocolate and wisps of fig prior to peaking with bourbon oak and undertones of vanilla, while creamy toffee finds tobacco and leather accents on the close.
Taste shows bittersweet bakers chocolate coating the palate upfront, leading to undertones of raisin meeting ample roast and rye spice into bourbon oak over the mid-palate; a barrel-aged cola sensation lingers into a low-lying heat on the back end, subsequently producing sarsaparilla intertwined with fresh cocoa and underlying fruity lager yeast finishing.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-light body alongside a creamy, moderate carbonation and a silky textural counterbalance to ample warmth through the mid-palate; the back end levels a mild roast profile to a soft, distantly bitter grit into a predominantly dry finish.
A boozy, dark expression fueled by subtle roast and an evocative and bittersweet chocolate range, this is a clean display of a rye malt profile effectively softened with an equally potent bourbon barrel and the accompanying nuances.

I received a can from @fbarber in the NBS BIF #14. Canned on 1/7/2021. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a dark mahogany with a thick, creamy, light mocha-colored head that dissipated quickly. On the nose there is roasted malt, chocolate, rye cracker, toffee, char, tobacco smoke, and subtle but noticeable bourbon. It's delicious! The taste opens with soft milk chocolate and caramel - like a candy bar. But the initial sweetness is balanced by dry rye and burnt coffee. The bourbon is so smooth and surprisingly delicate for such a big beer. The tastes blend seamlessly. The mouth feel is superb; rich, thick, and creamy - it drinks more like an Imperial Stout than a Porter. It's almost chewy. The carbonation level is low and while it's boozy I wouldn't have suspected 14% ABV if I didn't read the can. Overall, On & On: Part I is a magnificent beer; the inspired work of two excellent brewers.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 1/7/21, had 1/22/21.
Pours a mostly opaque dark brown, with just a quick flash of a head and light, soapy cling. Aromas of rye, malt, bourbon, chocolate, tobacco, raisins, brown sugar, some oak and char, some caramel as it warms. Bigger bourbon presence in the flavor, then, chocolate, rye, malt, brown sugar, some caramel and oak. Smooth, a very good full body for the style, well carbonated on the higher side.
Lots and lots of rye, great barrels, a number of expressive aromas and flavors- what could be better? This one really blossoms fully warmed. Really enjoyable and a top level collaboration.
