Tall Tales Brewing Co. "Evil Apple"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, no apparent freshness dating or packaging codes
$2 @ Weis Market #231, Conshohocken, PA
Tall Tales' "Evil Apple" pours a glass of beer that looks a little bit like a cider. It's mostly clear, just lightly hazy, but the color is the same, and it offers the same short head of white that you might get with a rough pour of cider - or at least it looks like what you might get once it's settled, which it does quickly. The aroma is sweetish and fruity, and displays some grainy malt as well. It doesn't particularly give off "apple" but it's fruity. The flavor of course follows with a more distinct apple flavor, the same grainy malt found in the aroma, and some spiciness that seems like cinnamon. There's a bit of an odd flavor to it that's a little reminiscent of quickly made home brewed beer, but it's not bad. It's just lightly sweetish like watered down apple juice, and fairly dry the whole way through although a modest bitterness and that little bit of spiciness makes sure it finishes dry. It's medium-light in body and moderately crisp leaving it soft and smooth across the palate. It's interesting, and seemingly very authentic, and I have to give it points for that; it would have been easy to use an apple extract and get a more distinctive "apple ale" but this is more realistic. Probably worth trying.

Pours a light apple juice color(looks like cider) with very minimal fizzy head, dissipating very very quickly. Aroma is light and perfume and flower-like but I get some apple, not a lot, but some. Taste is extremely light and watery, with the feel of a light lager, with some apple and barnyard funk

Pours hazy, gold, with high carbonation and 1/2 inch head. Taste is green apple with cinnamon. The smell seems off. The taste is better than the smell, but there is not as much of a beer taste here. This is a good try but pass for me in the future.
