On tap at the source in Petaluma and later from a can. A fantastic coffee beer regardless of style. Coffee is much more pronounced on tap than from a can. If you enjoy coffee beers this is not to be missed. Delicious.

just give me good saison and blast heady coffee into it and let me slowly decay from consuming way too much of it, is that a possible future reality? do i hope not or hope so? who knows, but this is one of those beers that just murders, the combination of african coffee and decent lean french type yeast saison is fire here, like i want a million of these, crazy how something so complex can be so darn drinkable, its seriously shocking. this has some haze, an inch of linen cream head, more body than anticipated but maybe that is just the wheat, its what its supposed to be. light roast in the nose, caramel and maple, toffee and raisin, whiskey in the background, earthy and cereal forward too, dry cocoa, its wicked complex, and my senses are immediately awakened as they might be in front of a fresh pot of java after a big night, the name makes sense to me now. its awesome how the flavor follows, this is roasty but light, robust but drinkable, packed with nuances of golden raisin, white amarone, if such a thing has ever existed, cognac, simple estery yeast hinting belgian but also white pepper and coriander and just a disappearing act. the body is on the edge of too full, but its a vessel for this coffee, which is majorly fresh in here, zero acid, and permeating my tongue. heady wine was open, decadent appetizers were on the table, i had options, but this was my pick, and i will forever stand by it. these guys dont get anywhere near the credit they deserve. fresh, working persons coffee, yeast, this is what i froth for...

I look for this beer every year around early summer, and it's always a bummer when they pull it from their tap list. Coffee in a saison is an unusual combination, but this one just works.

Pours a pretty darn clear golden color and a small amount of white foam. A good dose of light fruit and a small aroma of coffee. The taste is very balanced. Some light fruit, funk and a kick of the coffee on the swallow. Didn't think this would work as well as it did. The 7.30% is not present whatsoever. Good enough to buy a growler and take it home as the wifey was REALLY digging it. Worth searching out and trying this very interesting, tasty, combination. Refreshing and different.

On tap at Hop Grenade in Concord, California.
This was one of those special "blackboard listings" that one almost has to get when available. Coffee in saison sounds weird and I was reluctant; I almost didn't try it but I figured I'd take the tick.
A good choice! Pours a bit like a medium orange saison with a fast lived white head. And that's where the saison ends and the coffee begins. Huge coffee character all around and wonderfully done. This is like all coffee in every aspect - smell, taste, finish. The coffee tones are pervasive, somewhat simple but very fresh and rich and inviting. Most coffee character in a beer I've seen not a coffee stout. I liked the juxtaposition of Saison and coffee and, at least for HenHouse, it works and it works well.

On tap at Cato's in Oakland, also seen it at The Hog's Apothecary.
As with the below reviewer, I was initially wary of a coffee saison, and was surprised and deeply impressed by how they pulled it off. Extremely clean and balanced beer. The coffee flavor sits perfectly inside the classic saison profile, and HenHouse already does an excellent saison. No hint of burnt or heavy roast, just a clean coffee note. Like their house saison, it's light bodied, clear in appearance rather than murky, drinkable. Really outstanding beer.

I was scared at first of the idea of Coffee Saison but this is actually extremely well done. The coffee flavors are perfectly roasted without being sweet, burnt or vegetal nuanced. Furthermore, the coffee is really well balanced against the floral and citrus notes of the classic Saison backbone. The best beer I have had from Henhouse yet.
