Appearance: Exceptionally clear, light, Kölsch-ish brassy golden color with a sturdy, long-lasting white head that leaves behind layers of bumpy lace. Medium-sized bubbles are clearly visible.
Smell: Fresh, light malts with a strong, dusty grain-mill aroma. Not much else going on other than that besides a mild, grassy hop profile and a touch of DMS-y funk.
Taste: Smooth and snappy, well-bittered, and even a bit fruity. Malts are quite light, but that allows the fresh citric/herbal hops to shine through. This is actually exceptionally dry for a Japanese lager, I'm impressed. Finish is nice and bittersweet with a clean break from the malt sweetness and a lingering hoppy bite.
Mouthfeel: Effervescent, crisp, refreshing. A bit syrupy, but not overwhelmingly so.
Drinkability: Wow... way to go, Kirin. I think this is even better than their kuronama. Very drinkable both as something to savor or as something to chug, if that's what you're after. Recommended - get it while you can.
