Welcome back to my New Russo-Japanese-Vietnamese-Chinese CANned Beer Sunday, CANrades (Week 754) (С новым русским-日本人-Tiếng Việt-中文 Пиво воскресное, товарищи (неделя 754)!
This CAN, as well as the previous two, were brought back for me by a local acquaintance who routinely travels for work. He is a fellow beer person as well as a trivia buff & knows my predilection for beer in a CAN. He happily brings a few back for me in his travels since they are CANpact & lightweight, allowing him to put them in his checked baggage with little fear of breakage. I added them as needed, took & resized the approved pics & then just kind of shunted them aside until today. 8=(
From the CAN: Loadsa Kanji! 8=O Also, this was a unique (in my exbeerience) pebbled CAN.
The Crack! went well with a more modern tab than on the two previous CANs. I beCAN my slow, gentle C-Line Glug, but once it became evident that it did not make a difference, I allowed it to free-flow. I got a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, soapy, bone-white head that quickly faded to nothingness. Color simply Crystal Clear (SRM = N/A). 8=O What are the Japanese doing?!? This + 9.0%?!? Phew. Nose was utterly redolent with pineapple. Wow. Once more, what was I supposed to do with this? It was more akin to a mixer, but the ABV would simply be like gilding the lily. Phew. Mouthfeel was not as watery as the previous beer, but I would be a liar if I called it "Medium". Instead, its fizzy carbonation elevated it into the upper reaches of "Thin". The taste was definitely real pineapple, not "Naturally" or "Artificially" flavored, neither of which are the real thing. It had the slightly tart sweetness that makes pineapple taste so good & which is seemingly impossible to replicate in the chem lab. Whoops! While I was typing, I lost track of its ABV & really got at it. Well, that'll catch up with me later. It was a very tasty drink, but I was at a real loss as to how to describe it. Was it beer? My lack of Kanji left me at a loss, but it seemed to have been marketed as such. Phew. Finish was in that Twilight Zone between semi-sweet & semi-dry. I may have to rethink my strategy after this one.
