Jam-packed with juicy goodness, Strawberry Fields Sour Ale is back. Originally created as part of New Belgium Brewing’s “Beers with Vrienden” collaboration series, this Strawberry Kettle Sour found a permanent patch at Indeed. An addition of Lactobacillus provides a tart backdrop for playful notes of strawberry to kiss you right on the mouth. Light and crisp with a dry finish, you’ll want to drink Strawberry Fields forever.

Notes from 2017.
On tap at the brewery in NE Minneapolis.
This brew has 23 IBU and is fairly sour and drying. It has a fantastic flavor of buttery flaky pie crust and sour/tart pie filling. A very delicious and fresh tasting wheat ale.

Good lord this is an elite beer.

It pours as a beautiful strawberry pinkish-red, it almost looks like a smoothie.

It has a smooth and juicy mouthfeel, it’s a little on the thicc side. This shouldn’t come as a surprise; strawberry is the main flavor. It is a very delicious strawberry jam flavor.

Perfect for drinking on the porch on a Minnesota summer evening!

Appearance: Cloudy and the color of dried strawberries, the beer arrives with a nice two finger head that leaves a splashy pattern

Smell: Dried strawberries with a hint of vanilla; a bit tart

Taste: Lactic strawberry flavors with a hint of vanilla; the sweetness underpins but the tart aspect dominates from start to finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Reminds me of the dried strawberries I have purchased a few times from Lucy’s Whey on the UES

A: Beer pours an almost peach looking color. Likely somewhat dark orange with a slight red tint. Solid one finger worth of head but quickly gave way leaving behind almost no head or lacing.

S: Beer has a nice mix of strawberry freshness and some tart notes. Some aromas have a yogurt like smell. The beer's fragance is mostly a strawberry sweetness with a mild tart smell.

T: The main flavor of the beer is of fresh strawberries. Lots of sweetness here. Fairly simple example of a sour. Only a slight amount of tart flavors. Not as complex as other similar beers. However, the simplicity of the sour allows the fruit taste to stand out.

M: Light bodied beer with a large amount of sweetness on the mouthfeel. Very minimal amount of tartness here, but I feel it improves the overall level of the beer.

O: Fruit flavors stand out here. Very minimal amount of tartness allows the strawberries to be out front. Slight tanginess lingers in the mouth after drinking. Would be a good example for someone who typically doesn't like sours.

Poured from a 12 oz can into an Indeed pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy reddish amber. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A juicy and tart aroma with a scent of strawberries and lacto yeast. Big upfront scent of strawberries. Tart and funky scent of lacto yeast. Malt hints of wheat, grains, and cracker with yeast. A very nice aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a fruity and tart taste with note of strawberries and lacto yeast. Big juicy taste of strawberries is the dominant note. Tart notes of lacto yeast. Background malt notes of wheat, cracker, and grains along with some yeast. A very good juicy taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Juicy, creamy, and smooth.

Overall: A very good fruit beer. Great strawberry flavor with a nice touch of sourness.

Poured in to a 12oz snifter - the beer is immediately incredibly fragrant with all kinds of tremendous strawberry notes. The head consists of about a finger of nice, light foam.

I love strawberry - this is everything that I love about, with the addition of a nice, creamy consistency, like yogurt. It's just slightly sharp and thin, but the taste profile very much off-sets that. The sourness is not overpowering, and the tartness is mild - it's a very sessionable, easy drinking sour.

This is quite likely my favorite canned beer from Indeed thus far. I may be stockpiling this stuff - hoping it holds up over time better than Rum King!

Pours a hazy reddish orange with a quickly dissipating white head. Smell is predominantly strawberry and vanilla, very dessert-like. Taste is tart, slightly sweet strawberry with sour citrus-y notes on the end. Feel is light and very carbonated. Indeed is damn good at sours.

Tap pour at Grizzly's, in Plymouth MN. Served in a snifter glass.
Body color is pinkish red. Half of a finger of white head settles back into the beer. Minimal lacing.
Smell and taste is definitely fruity, but not sweet. Kind of like the essence of the strawberry, without much of the sugar.
Taste is a little tart and sour.
A little bit of a creamy mouth feel.
It's not sweet like I expected, but has a real strawberry juice taste.
