Old Breed barleywine was brewed with bourbon in mind. A quadruple malt bill of barley, white wheat, corn, and rye is paired with fresh dumped local wheat, rye, and corn bourbon barrels and set to rest for 12 months. Once deemed ready, this exquisite ale provides layer upon layer of complex molasses, rich toffees, and a strong leathery, caramel backbone. Cinnamon, vanilla and a moderate tannin finish showcase the uniqueness of each type of barrel used. Old Breed is a tantalizing complexity, from the aroma to the aftertaste and one we hope to savor for a long time,

12oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'CANNED : 02/25/21'.
Amber brown colored body. Persistent light tan head, with tightly packed bubbles. Partial sheets of lacing.
Aroma is rich with molasses, caramel, toffee, oak, vanilla, bourbon, and old leather. Actually is prickly in the nose.
Taste is very bourbon heavy, with toffee, molasses, and caramel notes, along with stretched leather and vanilla. The spice is there too, with a cinnamon note is solid in the aftertaste. Any dried dark fruit is derivative rather than truly expressed.
Thicker than medium mouth feel, with a smooth texture. Okay carbonation.
A strong tasting beer, with a heavy bourbon barrel note. Overall very full of close and packed flavors. Better a closing beer than earlier in the session.

Had on tap. Fading brown dark to light down the glass, virtually no head. Wheated barrel, rye, general graininess, tons of wood, with supporting toffee, leather, vanilla, barley, and cinnamon. Curious and unique. The taste would be fun if it had such nuance, but unfortunately the vanilla gets stepped up a lot and more unfortunately the booze is out of control, washing away any sort of complexity beyond the barrels, borders on harsh. Feel is boozy, woody, grainy, and abrasive on the edges. More interesting than good

L: Pours hazy, dirty brown permeated by streams of bubbles under a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates.
S: Smells of alcohol, dark dried fruit, trace vanilla, caramel, fig and brown sugar.
T: has big malty flavors with dark dried fruit, some bourbon and caramel. the hop flavors and bitterness are moderate.
F: full bodied, some alcohol warmth but not hot or harsh, carbonation is medium and the beer might work better with a little less,
O: a big, full flavored and full bodies barleywine.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Dark brown, good head.
Smell: Big barrel aroma--Vanilla, sweetness, bit of licorice.
Taste: Rich, swet, smooth, vanilla, butterscotch and toffee. Very nice blend of flavors!
Overall: Found a single so grabbed it. Very rich and sweet, nice blend of barrel and base beer. Seems like it could be labeled as an English-style BW since I didn't get much hops coming through. Very tasty!

Looks a little muddy. Unusual for an Indeed beer to look so murky. Aroma of caramel, bourbon, oak, and fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty. A little bourbon but it has a strong oak component from the barrel. A bit of heat from alcohol.Robust body and nicely carbonated.

Pours a murky rusty brown color with a thin grey head. Smell is malty, fruity and hoppy. Taste started with sweet malts it mixed with toffee ,dark fruits like fig and dates finished dry , Mouth feel was very sweet a little thin and the barrel was on the thinner side with abv held in check @almost 10%, If you like sweet malty BW you will like this

Pours a very burnt orange/bronze with an okay head and good retention. Aroma of marshmallow, cinnamon, sweet potato pie, baked apples. Hard to detect bourbon on the nose. Re: taste--really picking up marshmallow and graham cracker. Also caramel, brown sugar, leather. Bourbon comes through a bit more to round it out but the alcohol is still remarkably well-hidden. Complex and delicious. The body is not quite as full as you might expect for such a heavy sipper, and the carbonation is a shade higher as well. Still though, a very good effort by Indeed.
