Crushable SMaSH (single malt and single hop) lager with an ABV of 5.0% and 10 IBU. It offers a light, easy-drinking experience with very little bitterness, complemented by a subtle, yet distinct fruit aroma and flavour from the New Zealand hops.

From 473ml can dated 11/06/2025. Poured into a pint glass. A two finger fluffy white head on a slightly hazy straw. The head diminished to a layer. Sheets of fine lacing.

Grainy malts and lemon in the nose. Sweet up front. A clean taste. A favourable hop presence with minimal bitterness.

A medium light body and good carbonation. Overall a solid American lager. Clean and drinkable,

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 6 2025 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a relatively clear pale straw colour, giving rise to two fingers of fluffy, foamy white head that lasts for more than five minutes. A thick collar of soapy suds is left surrounding a thin collar, with a generous coat of lace adhering to the glass; looks amazing so far. Clean aroma of bready malts & light honey sweetness, with suggestions of grassy hay & lemon peel.

Immaculately clean flavours, but very straightforward. Grainy malts and doughy bread sweetness, with grassy hay and spicy hops rounding out the back end; grainy aftertaste that quickly fades to off-dry. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that assaults the palate, frothing up the sip and making for an unnecessarily bloaty lager, at least early on in the session. If you're willing to wait fifteen minutes for the carbonation to exhaust itself, it does eventually become an easy-drinking, refreshing pale lager.

Final Grade: 3.77, managing to pull a B+ out of its hat. Sleeping Giant's Better Is Possible SMASH Lager grew on me over the course of the glass, but I still think it's a little overcarbonated. In the grand scheme of things, that's hardly a capital offence, but it does hold this lager back just a tad. Thankfully, its clean, flavourful malt profile and grassy hops hold everything together well enough to make for a solid, sessionable quaffer that I may return to again. Not only that, each can purchased contributes to a worthy cause - I'll drink to that!
