A year round offering based on the similar styles of North American Pale Ale and Amber Ale. Though slightly hop focused, our 360° Ale is very drinkable with a medium-light body, dry finish, moderate malty palate balanced by slight bitterness and a pleasing hop aroma. Simply brewed with North American 2-row pale malt and some crystal malts for colour and flavour additions, and balanced by three different hops added three times, the focus is on aroma with mild flavours. We want this to be your go-to beer enjoyed while sharing a few pints with friends!

I got a can of this beer from The Beer Store in Fort Frances, Ontario whilst there for my son's hockey showcase. It poured a clear golden with fizzy white head that dissipated quickly and did not leave much lace. The scent had subtle grain and subtle bitter citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp malt base with grain and hints of bitter orange presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Look: Pours hazy coppery orange with a 2 finger off white/orange tinted fluffy head. The head is still a strong 1/2 finger after 5 minutes.
Smell: Sweet, iced tea and malt. Some floral notes, Very pretty traditional English Ale smell, only fault is the smell it too muted.
Taste: Biscuits and bitters. Orange pekoe tea with hints of caramel in the middle. Bitter on the back end.
Feel: Typical heavy English Ale mouthfeel. Coats the tongue and lays low on the bottom of the mouth.
This beer is unassuming, and unpretentious. Nothing offensive or to fault but nothing too exciting either. It earns a B

Pours slightly hazy amber with a dense creamy off white head and dense lacing. Aroma: Slightly honeyish. Flavour: slightly tart - honey on toast with citrusy hops.

The beer pours a translucent light copper colour with a thin field of bubbles for a head. The aroma is citrus, weak caramel, some grass, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is slightly toasted malt, some sweet caramel hints, and weak pine notes. Not bad, but not something to reach for every time you want a beer.

Copper and slightly hazy with a little carbonation, and 3 fingers of creamy, off white head. Good, thick lacing.

Smells of caramel, pine, oranges, and toffee.

Tastes of caramel, oranges, orange peel, tea, and dull, bitter hops.

Medium body, with medium low carbonation.

Drinking in New Hamburg, March 23rd, 2018. Decent pale ale.

Impressive to look at. Big ice cream float head, gobs of lace, chunky cap. Clear, rusty orange, plenty of bubbles. Caramel nose with a sharp boozy edge, some fruitiness. Similarly sharp edged taste, overtakes the caramel. Harsh hops also, stongly lingering bitterness. Also pointedly carbonated. This one is all elbows, no subtlety.

473 ml can served cold into a tulip. Fortinos purchase for $3 CDN. Listed at 4.9% ABV. Curious to see how these guys from Thunder Bay do.

Appearance - Pours a semi-hazy dark amber colored beer with multiple fingers of off-white head. Very nice retention, plenty of lacing in making for a great looking beer.

Smell - Hints of sweetness tropical fruit with melon, mango and pineapple playing most prominent roles. Some malt backing, but leaning to the overripe fruit and tropical side of things. Nose isn't terribly pungent for better or for worse.

Taste - Middling bitterness, some tropical fruits with melon playing a role. Finishes much more bitter than it starts. Grainy as well to start with plenty of sweetness. The bitterness is certainly more of the resiny and piney flavor profile.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied overall, leaning heavy for the style, with sufficient carbonation and a soft texture that lends itself to easy drinking. Very dry finish.

Overall - A solid if unspectacular pale ale that leans towards an IPA with heavy bitterness through and notions of tropical fruits as well. Worthy of tipple or three for sure and gives me hope for this distant brewery that is remarkably still in the same province.

473 mL can from the LCBO; packaged Jan 19 2017 and served slightly chilled. Now listed at 4.9%. This is the first Sleeping Giant product that I've had the chance to try.

Pours a clouded orange-amber colour, generating roughly one inch of lumpy white head. Good retention; it retreats at a casual pace, requiring more than 5 minutes to fade down to a wide, foamy collar and thin cap, simultaneously depositing a messy coat of lacing. Looks great, although the nose is somewhat subdued - coarse grains and bread, with light caramel sweetness, muddled orange citrus and a hint of indistinct orchard fruit. Slightly leafy and earthy; not too interesting, but suitable for an EPA/APA hybrid.

The flavour profile doesn't stray far from the aroma, with grainy pale malts, toasted bread and some caramelized sugar featured at the forefront. Hints of orange peel and red apple are followed up by a sturdy, bitter kick from the hop bill, which comes across as grassy, dirty, and slightly piney/resiny. These hoppy notes carry on into a bittersweet finish with some earthiness. Light-ish bodied, with appropriately moderated carbonation levels for a light pale ale - not quite crisp, but definitely not soft, either; it provides a decent bite. Far from exciting, but it'll get the job done.

Final Grade: 3.67, a B grade. Sleeping Giant's 360 Ale is another example of an "Ontario pale ale" - easy-drinking, fairly malt forward, with a firm hop backing. It's passable, but not something to go out your way for. My issue with these hybrid ales is that they often result in a "jack of all trades, master of none" situation, which is how I'd describe this one. English ale fans may not appreciate the pointed earthy/resiny bitterness on the back end, whereas American pale fans are probably looking for something with a more unique hop profile (or at the very least, something not quite so malt-focused). I'm just thinking aloud, though - the bottom line is that this is a respectable flagship brew that I'm not averse to drinking again.
