Can: Poured a pale yellow color lager with a medium pure white foamy head with OK retention and not much lacing. Aroma of light cereal notes with some residual sugar notes is OK. Taste is a refreshing mix of light cereal with some residual sugar with no gross adjunct not really apparent. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Well brewed for the style.

Can from the lcbo for $3 or so. Pretty decent for what it is.

Yeah. Just straight up ordinary. Pours clear pale yellow under a moderate head that quickly disappears. Light grassy hops and some grain on the nose. Same to taste. Thin bodied. Yep, it's a light beer. Nothing off about it, it is what it is, and passable enough as light beers go.

473 ml can served old into a pint glass. Purchased for about $2.75 CDN.
Appearance - Pale golden straw color, darker shade that Coors light, but not quite as dark as Molson Canadian. Some carbonation and a bright white fluffy head nearing two fingers is poured and has surprisingly good staying power.
Smell - Not much, some light grainy aromas and not a whole lot else.
Taste - Light and grainy, not much here and rather watery. Bitterness is present but only in small doses.
Mouthfeel - Well carbonated, but light and watery. Body is quite light.
Overall - A decent "cutting the lawn" beer, as it's light, easy to drink and seems free of adjuncts, but flavor wise, there's not much here. Worth a try if the price is right, but nothing terribly exciting here. Oh and Kudos to Chris Phillips, the 1st overall draft pick in 1996 and his 1179 NHL games.

Tallboy can from the LCBO; dated XX Jun 2016 (it's smudged so I can't discern the day) and served well-chilled. The "1179" is a reference to the number of professional hockey games that Chris Phillips participated in prior to his recent retirement.
Pours a sunny, crystal clear golden-yellow hue, topped with one finger of loose, soapy white head that has mostly dissipated by the 60 second mark. A collar of foam is the only remnant; not much of a cap, with minimal lacing produced. Standard pale lager tropes on the nose - doughy pale malts, gritty cereal grains, some honeyed sweetness and just a hint of grassy, earthy hops. The aroma is not unlike that of their Gold, although perhaps a bit cleaner.
Unremarkable beer, but also pretty unobjectionable by light lager standards. Clean pale barley malt sweetness dominates the profile for the most part - doughy and bready, with notes of grain husk and honey. Light hints of grassy, leafy hops and wet hay on the back end, leading up to a relatively non-descript finish that leaves the palate feeling dry. Quite light/thin-bodied, and a tad watery; the carbonation levels are moderate, offering up a modestly crisp bite with each sip. Very middle-of-the-road.
Final Grade: 3.33, a passable B-. Big Rig's Salute 1179 Lager isn't anything too special, and it's definitely not something I'd select first overall in the 2016 entry draught (please do not throw tomatoes at me). There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it's clear from the marketing that they are angling for the macro swilling crowd rather than the beer geeks. Reminds me of beers such as Lake of Bays' Top Shelf or Muskoka Craft Lager - drinkable if you enjoy pale lagers, but not something I'd purchase more than once or twice a year. Oh and thanks Chris, for being a decent waiver pick-up in that ridiculously deep fantasy hockey league I participated in like 4-5 years ago.
