We’re excited to release our Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Honey Stout Brewed in collaboration with the Maltose Falcons Homebrew Club.

Brewed with orange blossom honey and carefully aged in bourbon barrels, expect notes Honeycomb candy, toffee, and semi-sweet chocolate. Conditioning in the barrels also provides notes of vanilla, spice, and toasted oak.

Cheers to America’s oldest homebrew club, congrats on 50 years!

Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle and poured into my snifter. received in a trade recently.
The beer pours a rich dark coffee brown to black color with no light passing through the glass. Minimal, slightly creamy beige head foams up about 1 cm and fades quickly to a sturdy edge layer. Some very scattered lattice shows on the sides of the glass when I take a sip or swirl the glass.
Aroma is rich and malty and driven by the barrels. I get dark chocolate and molasses with some charred wood, bourbon and maybe a little vanilla. Something sweet is buried on the nose, it could also be floral honey, but Im leaning vanilla from the barrel. Not boozy or hot on the nose and no hops to be found.
Flavor is similar to the nose with a lot of barrel character. I get some chocolate fudge, bourbon notes, charred wood and a bit of brown sugar. sipping does reveals some boozy black pepper at the finish with a little warming booze there too. Never any hop notes. I dont really get any honey on flavor profile either. Definitely barrel dominant , big and slightly boozy imperial stout. glad to have tried this one, and only having this one for tonight. Phew! ALready feeling it and only 1/3 way through my glass.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Pretty sticky texture creating a coating on my lips, teeth and palate with each sip. Feels like a pretty big and boozy beer even though Im not getting any heat or peppery booze.

500ml capped/waxed bottle served in a stemless rastal. If there's a date on it, I don't see it. @Resistance88 hid it in a war zone, but I found it.

Pours black with little to no head, looks thick and syrupy. Smell is boozy, a little rye spice, lots of vanilla and barrel char. Light smokiness mostly seems like a manifestation of the char. Chocolate and burnt coffee.

Taste is chocolate and vanilla, bit of a marshmallow vibe makes me think of smores. Rye spice is noticeable but much more subtle, barrel char and smoke character are mostly gone. Sweetness is clear, I can tell there's honey in there, but the actual honey flavor is pretty subtle.

Mouthfeel is thick, velvet, smooth. Overall, pretty nice -- would actually like the honey to stand out a little more.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle bought at the brewery taproom.

Intensely dark brown and no light gets through it, but a thin line of mahogany can be seen right at the edge of the glass when it is held up to a light. No head, just a few wispy brown bubbles on the surface (not unusual for a barrel-aged beer). Strong aromas of honey, oak and bourbon, that give a mellow, well-aged impression. Strong honey flavor blends with lots of vanilla and sweet Bourbon; oak backbone. Huge complexity to the flavors. Medium to thick body with moderate, smooth carbonation. Strong hops bitterness that blends with big alcohol burn. This beer has breadth and depth, and it is delicious. It is a great tribute to the oldest homebrew club in the US.
