Inspired by the farmhouse beers aged during the cold Belgian winters, pFriem Saison is a fragrant ale ready to liven up any palate with tropical notes of guava and cumquats.

Pours an amber/orange color with a small head and an aroma of citrus. Taste is mainly citrus (mostly lemon) with a tropical & berry on the finish. Decent Farmhouse Ale considering the age. BOD 2-1-2019

Copenhagen 7/3 2021. 37,5 cl corked bottle from Best of Beers web-shop. Golden label with the logo of pFriem (the kind of mysterious name of the brewery) and simple symmetri drawing of pine trees flanked by what looks like Mountain lions.
Pours opaque golden yellow with a tight but bubbly white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty base mingling with a tart fruity odor and a yeasty touch. Sweet pale malts. Tart gooseberries and citrus. Barnyard.
Strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a medium strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is tart and a bit thin. Sweet undertone. Lingers for s bit. Finish is semi-dry.
Fairly fresh and a real nice nose.

On tap at Encontro North Park in San Diego. A bit more funk than I love, but still a nice saison.

On tap at Papa Haydn in Portland, OR. Pours a very light yellow, and the lightness continues in taste. Ripe banana, crisp, and carbonated. A great beer for the back porch - which is exactly where we were.

375ml bottle served in a tulip. Bottled on 02/01/19. Served blind. I had no idea what was in my glass when I wrote the words below...
Looks creamy, yellow, clear, big head, lot of carbonation. Carbonation is fine and fast. Smell is more funk and oak than anything else, with some kind of green fruit. Kiwi comes to mind but isn't quite right.
Taste is yeasty, oaky, some funk, generally wild but not heavy or oppressive.
Mouthfeel is fairly light. Overall, not a bad summer beer.

From a 16 oz bottle to a tulip: yellow, transparent. Rather thin head, dissipates quickly. Impressive bouquet: grassy, herbal. Taste follows. Excellent lingering herbal aftertaste; little bit of heat. Really well done saison!

Pours brilliant gold with lots of suspended particles swimming around due to my slightly vigorous pour. A huge pillowy white foam caps it off, clinging on to every bit of surface it can as it recedes. Smells of earth, hay, freshly ground wheat, cut grass, banana, clove, and peppery spice. Taste follows with highlights of citrus, but the focus rests on those earthy notes. Feel is gloriously carbonated and dry, light and easy to consume, and finishes with a good amount of bitterness and a hint of alcohol warmth surprisingly. Overall, this is a dry Saison at its finest. A Saison lovers Saison if I may be so bold. It's not necessarily the prettiest unless you are careful to decant, but this is exceptional. Cheers!
