On-tap at Vine Street Pub in Denver. Served in a snifter.
A: Cloudy copper with a small and dense cream cap. Head retention is excellent, but no lace is left behind.
S: Fairly light, to be honest. Dark fruits are there, plus a bit of alcohol and a touch of pepper.
T: Starts out with flavors of grapes, apples and pears. A strong dose of alcohol mixes with the fruits to create a vinous theme. A pepper bitterness comes along to provide balance. Finishes extremely tart and dry, with a lingering warmth.
M: The thick body is almost bready. Carbonation feels about right.
D: This is a nice nightcap beer. I wished for a stronger nose, but the flavors made up for it. Overall, a solid effort.

This is billed as their imperial red Belgian ale. Not sure if it fits the category I labeled it...
Anyway. A deep ruby, hazed and bright pour, with a 1 finger head that didn't last too long. Average appearance, eh...ok.
Wonderful aroma of biscuit, cherries, apples, caramel and orange rinds. nothing over the top. A good blend. Expecting more sourness.
Same with the taste. Sourness is there, but is quite well balanced with the malt and hops. Sweetness up front then a quick hit of clove and similar spices, then a touch of sour followed by a delicate layer of maltiness. This is a really nice beer. The style throws me a bit, though.
