On tap at Vine Street Pub for stout month, apparently this won a homebrew competition. Dark black, decent head, smells roasty but nothin g in particular stands out. The flavor did seem like an export stout but it also had an ashy quality that I could not get past. I've picked it up before in the Abyss but not this much, chalky and ashy. Overall, I would not order this again but it didn;t taste bad.

The last day of Stout Month at VSP in Denver, and I had this one.
Pours dark, almost black with ruby highlights. Nice head, probably could have been thicker except for the pour--off brown, semi dense.
Aroma was a bit weak, but roasted malt and baked dark chocolate come through. Seems more dry than sweet.
Sure enough, it's dry. A good bite on the end makes this one very easy drinking. Dark chocolate and espresso play of the roasted malt quite well. Some hints of molasses give the dryness a check.
Nice effort from a homebrew

Had this one on tap the other night at the Vine Street Pub in Denver, as part of the stout month celebration. This one was one of the winning homebrew recipes. Poured a dark brown/black color with a decent head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and a little smoke. On the palate this one is medium bodied with chocolate and roasted malt.
