a simple saison, but a tasty one, light and clean, with quite a bit of the dry pale rye malt coming through, and a french type estery saison yeast strain. i generally like a little more rustic character to the malt in there and more funk to the yeast, but as the cleaner ferments go in the style, this is solid. i think the fermentation profile is fine. a little too clean and sterile for me, but the beer is good overall and more than anything, you can taste the rye, so nice job there. its also well complimented with the hopping, which is bitter and somewhat more robust than is traditional, but it works without making this too new school or anything. hard to do, but done! there are banana and pear yeast bits to this, and its simple in a way thats unflattering, but the yeast they chose, they did well with, and this is good and clean belgian style beer that really drinks. id ask for more, but i really cant, especially from a small town operation like this doing their best to create new flavors but please a generation of drinkers who did not come up on yeast forward beers. this works for me in this context more than adequately! plus, you can take it outside, in glass!!!
