Opaque black with a 2 finger tan colored head that slowly recedes to a sticky lace. Smells of dark roasted coffee and molasses. Butter coffee flavor with an oatmeal background. I like black coffee therefore I love this beer. Medium to thick mouthfeel, coats the tongue well. Great beer from one of my favorite styles.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a New Belgium Globe Glass
The beer pours jet black with about 2 fingers worth of tan/khaki foamy head that slowly recedes leaving behind very little lacing.
The aroma is quite nice, comprised mainly of roasted malts and coffee, with notes of chocolate and caramel. I have seen others mention molasses, and I did get a bit of that, but I am not sure if I would have noticed it if I had not gone looking for it after reading others reviews.
The flavor is big on dark roasted coffee, and roasted malts. The chocolate is less prevalent than in the aroma, but I do get the molasses that I nearly missed in the nose. There is a slight bitterness on the finish from the roasted malts. Medium/Full bodied and moderately carbonated, the beer is slick on the tongue with a velvety mouthfeel.
Overall, this is quite a nice Coffee Stout

Minimal head production and poor retention. Not a bad looking beer, but certainly not a stunner.
Aroma is quite pleasant, verging on outstanding. It's a classic porter aroma with coffee; I definitely can't complain!
Delivers on the palate. Very approachable. Not a ton of complexity, but I suspect it's not trying to be. Sumatra definitely comes through without being overbearing. The stout base is a bit thin. Mouthfeel is definitely on the thinner side and quite lively, especially for an oatmeal stout.
In this age of double digit ABV ultra thick flavored imperial stouts, it's nice to have a change up that focuses more on simplicity and drinkability. This is a very enjoyable beer.

Pours a dark brown color with virtually no head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is black coffee and roasted malts with a hint of sweet vanilla. Slightly bitter finish.

Pours jet black with very dark highlights. A thin layer of fine, light khaki foam forms a cap. Fine, spotty lace is deposited on the Klokke Roeland snifter.
The aroma has a great balance of dark roasted malt against coffee, milk chocolate, and oatmeal. A light molasses bread shows up late.
The flavor follows the aroma with roasted bitterness building as it warms. The roasted malt has a light burnt quality. Black coffee and baker's chocolate fill the modest, long finish. It has a light astringency that holds it back.
A medium body and slick texture, similar to fine satin. The alcohol is as expected, as is the light, prickly carbonation.
I am actually drinking this with brunch as a rare, pre-noon beer. The coffee attributes are well-paired with the malt, in whole, providing a nice roasted experience.

Visited a pint at the brewery in NODA for $6.50 while our Flat Rock house was being shown all day on 3-22-2024. This was very coffee forward but had a sweet back end as opposed to a roasty base which reduced my taste score .25. Still enjoyed!

First beer from this brewery. Not sure where I got this beer. Using a tulip glass, I served the beer at 50 degrees. The pour created a one-fingered light tan, creamy head with fair retention. The somewhat quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. Charting the color somewhere around SRM 32, dark brown. The appearance is average for this style.
Nosing the glass, I smell oatmeal, dark roasted coffee, molasses, chocolate, toasted bread, and earthiness with some floral notes.
Sipping the beer, I taste dark roasted coffee, oatmeal, molasses, toasted bread crust, anise, char, earthiness, and floral esters.
The mouthfeel is creamy with some dryness. The body is medium-plus, has a medium-low carbonation, and a lingering finish.
I have a few issues with this beer. I would expect a bit more creaminess with a slightly heavier body. The coffee is pronounced but a touch bitter for my liking ( I am a black coffee drinker). It is not a bad beer; I want the oatmeal to come on stronger giving more umph to the mouthfeel.

Robust looking opaque black pour, full tan head, spotted lacing. Great oatmeal, coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and faint toasted caramel in the nose. Taste adds a hint of raisin, but unfortunately also some metal within the roast. Feel is unaffected by this with great roast, oat, coffee, and malt textures, big yet frothy and robust
