Milkshake IPA

Collaboration with our Friends from Cerebral Brewing. Named for the Kiwi, the native flightless bird of New Zealand, since we used only hops from New Zealand: Motueka in the whirlpool, then double dry hopped with Rakau and Kohatu. Peach, orange, and pineapple for a smooth, tropical experience.

Contains lactose.

Part of the NBS BIF #8 fun from @Dragginballs76.
Pours a pale murky orange with an initial head that is somewhere around 80% of the glass. Whipped egg white consistency and colour to the head. Impressive retention. Solid lacing.

Nose is pineapple, peach and POG juice dominate the nose.

Peach and orange and pineapple for sure. Just splash/flashes of each before settling on an orange pith bitterness that carries through. Blends with the lactose to give an almost orange creamcicle type finish.

Medium thick body with a lactose finish.
I'll be honest. I've never really been a fan of this style (neither the NEIPA broadly nor the milkshake specifically), but I enjoyed this one more than I expected to. Thanks Mike for sending it along!!

L - huge yellowish head atop a milky orange body.

S - lactose, orange, honey.

T - sweet oranges, pineapple, lactose, sugary caramel, a bit of grapefruit. Low bitterness. Moderate-high sweetness. Low booziness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - very sweet, but some enjoyable flavors here.

A: Pours a super murky medium to dark golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate amounts of bright yellow + apricot + honey colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of juicy citrus/orange, tropical/pineapple, tropical/mango, and stone fruit/peach hops over the top of moderate aromas of biscuit + oat + honey + wheat malts with a moderate amount of honey + lactose sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of biscuit + oat + honey + wheat malts with a moderate amount of honey + lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy citrus/orange, tropical/pineapple, tropical/mango, and stone fruit/peach hops which impart a minimal amount of bitterness which fades away extremely quickly leaving a lingering tropical + citrus hop flavor.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of softness/fluffiness mid-body with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and enough sweetness to make this one super easy to drink. I enjoyed the lactose presence as well as the combonation of NZ hops. I'd definitely pick this one up again.
