Thanks, Jay!

Was lucky enough to get this and a bunch of other good stuff from a college friend. Was probably more excited than anything else about the Heist beers. Can description called it, “Fruited sour with mango, orange, passion fruit and pineapple.” Damn this is right up my alley.

Poured a golden orange murky color with one finger of fizzy off-white head, which dissipated quickly. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect pulpy lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00)

First thought on the smell was that there was a bunch of flavors that came together but didn’t really work. With some work got pineapple, mango and passion fruit, with some orange notes in the background. Maybe some notes of guava and nectarine as well. Was much better out of the glass than the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted a little better than the nose. Got more flavor here. Very sweet. In order got mango, pineapple, passion fruit, orange, tangerine, citrus/tropical pulp and hints of guava. A little tart too. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was outstanding overall. Really glad I got to try it. (Overall - 4.00)

A: Pours a murky opaque bright golden orange (much like the color of the flesh of very ripe mangos) with light amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint bright orange + bright yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy sudsy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy citrus/orange + tropical/mango + tropical/pineapple + tropical/passionfruit over the top of light aromas of slightly sour wheat malts.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of slightly sour wheat malts with a moderate amount of fruity sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of sweet with a hint of tartness juicy citrus/orange + tropical/mango + tropical/pineapple + tropical/passionfruit. The sweet tropical + citrus fruits linger through the finish along with a light amount of tartness.

M: Light to medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a light amount of acidic prickliness.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshing almost smoothie-like quality. Enjoyable with tons of slightly tart, sweet tropical + citrus fruits. I could easily have a couple of these - perfect on a warm summer evening. Would have been great just after my run earlier.
