Hazy IPA, brewed and double dry-hopped with Strata, Mosaic, and El Dorado. Super tropical with a nice dank, earthy quality.

16 FL. Oz. Can dated 4/14/21
"Gary Oldman"
Hazy golden chicken soup look, one finger fine white head, spotty lacing, reduces to wisps and ring.
Strong orange, melon, peach, pine, pineapple aromas.
Corresponding citrus, pine, pineapple, mango, pepper, light cherry flavors.
Soft coating feel, good carbonation, no alcohol heat, tropical hop aftertaste.
Glad to see this is a recurrent Heist release. Solid NEIPA.

Was lucky enough to get this and a bunch of other good stuff from a college friend. Had heard great things about Heist Brewery and was looking forward to finally getting to try one. Their website calls this beer, “Hazy IPA, brewed and double dry-hopped with Strata, Mosaic, and El Dorado. Super tropical with a nice dank, earthy quality.” Interesting hop combo.
Poured a medium-yellow hazy color with five fingers of rocky white head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 5.00)
Smelled Strata right away, followed by grapefruit, wet grass, sappy pine, Mosaic, floral, mango, rose blossom, stone fruit, pineapple, nectarine and pear. Just as good from the can, maybe with the addition of peach. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste wasn’t quite as good, but still solid. Definitely got the El Dorado here. Got all three hops, really balanced. If I had to pick, I’d say Mosaic, Strata and El Dorado in order. Specific characteristics of rose blossom, floral, mango, stone fruit, pineapple, nectarine, pear, grapefruit, sappy pine and wet grass. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.75)
I’m pretty sure I underrated this overall. This was excellent, but really better. (Overall - 4.25)

Approaching Daylight from Heist Brewery. Received from @nc41 in BIF 12. Received 10/8/20. Reviewed 10/17/20.
16 oz can stamped on bottom rim “09/02/20 SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN”. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.5 degrees.
Appearance – 4.5.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Pale straw (SRM 2), murky and opaque. When held to direct light, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 7.2 cm, aggressive center pour), egg-shell, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a jagged five to fifteen mm crown with a thick partial cap, leaving rings of foam as the head collapses to a thick, complete rocky cap. Second pour produces a one cm tight head.
Lacing – Excellent! See also above.
Aroma – 4.5 – Begins with strong sweet tropical fruit, citrus, and a touch of pine. No malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 4 – Oddly enough, the prominent tropical nose does not carry well into the flavor – the fruity hop flavors are subdued, playing second fiddle to unfluctuating and insistent dankness. No malt, no yeast. No alcohol (7.1 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, watery but approaching creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25. Great appearance and nose, surprisingly unrelenting mild dankness with a looong hangtime.
