Making a good hazy IPA doesn't seem to be all that hard nowadays. But being great at hazy is a tall task even for the most seasoned haze makers. Hoof hearted, if nothing else is good at making hazy beer.

But If You Can't Be Good, Be Bald starts out anything but bald as it grows a billowing eggshell froth above a pulpy opaque orange body. As its citrus laden scent rises, it also brings hints of tropical fruit, herb and juice in a radiant citronella scent. Sweetness takes over the early palate as it's cereal character brings honey, poundcake and cake dough flavors as well.

As the malts coat the tongue, the rise of hops bring a juicy taste of white grapefruit, tangerine and lemon ahead of a more tropical taste of passionfruit, pawpaw, papaya and kiwi with a nearly tangy zing. Trending smoothly bitter, the late taste shifts toward fruit peels, cedar, spruce tip and hemp for a peppery tea-like balance.

Full bodied, creamy and smooth throughout, the hefty ale finishes malty-dry and with a hint of bitterness to take an edge off of the otherwise cloying sweetness. Suggestions of spicy vodka warms the finish as the ale carries into a fruity, herbal and drying aftertaste.

Orange in color and very hazy. Nose is full on citrus. Noce white head, but no lacing. Taste was citrusy. No bitterness to speak of. Noce citrus across the palate.

Cloudy orange color (looks like depulped orange juice) and a substantial off white head with just bits of lacing.
The aroma is also a lot like orange juice with a touch of pine.
The flavor is tangerine, grapefruit, lemon and apricot, luscious. The finish is slightly dry with grapefruit zest and pine resin, mild bitterness.
The body is full, good carbonation level, creamy and very drinkable with only a hint of alcohol. Altogether, this is an excellent example of New England style IPA, very juicy and flavorful, refreshing and enjoyable.

My first hazy from Hoof Hearted.

Great fruity nose, very inviting.

Taste is just like the nose, very fruity and hoppy with very low bitterness.

Smooth mouth feel with a slight carbonation bite.

Overall it's a great representation of the style. Glad I gave Hoof Hearted a try.

1PINT can
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours pale yellow and turbid. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.

Dank smell with citrus and tropical fruit.

Dank flavor up front. Citrus and tropical fruit follows. Slight grapefruit flavor in the finish.

Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel

This is a standout in the Hoofy lineup. Sadly, I can really relate to the name of this beer.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local beer store located just around the corner. It poured a hazy yellow with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had dank dark fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with stone and apricot fruit flare. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
