Served in an oversized wine glass.
Appearance: Thick motor oil color with a dark tan head which had an initial rise of about one finger's length off the body.

16oz can from my brother. Thick black pour, layer of silky beige head. Roasty aroma, chocolate, boozy notes. Taste adds a little vanilla and coffee, with a nice boozy warmth from the barrels.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter via the brewery while enjoying the
vibrant Columbus brewery scene with Bluejacket74, Laura, and the
Little Lady----loved this place! This monster pours a dark obsidian
with a nice head of brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin
dusty layer, and shows very faint lacing. Nose of dark cocoa, dark
coffee, bourbon, and vanilla with touches of cream and light anise.
Flavors surpass the nose with dark cocoa, bourbon, brewers licorice,
light soy, dark brown sugars, dark roasted coffee, light cream, and
rich char with vanilla and light oak. Nice mouth feel; full slick body,
smooth, coating, rich, light carbonation, and a warming lightly bitter
malt finish.
I will totally agree with Bluejacket74 on this one, canned is more mellow
on the flavor with less soy notes. That said it is a fantastic brew!
Cheers

16 ounce can, 2021 vintage. Purchased at Hoof Hearted Brewery & Kitchen location when hanging out with Brutaltruth recently! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention is decent, and there's a small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells mostly like coffee, along with some burnt/charred malt, vanilla, bourbon and dark chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some caramel, oak and some soy sauce. Lots of coffee in both the aroma and taste of this brew, and the barrel character is on the light side. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Have to say I like the canned version more than the one I had on tap there. Worth a try if you like big coffee stouts.
