16 ounce can, 2023 vintage, big thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! I've had the barrel aged version before but not the base version for some reason. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a while. Decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like coffee, burnt/charred malt, dark bread and some brown sugar. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some earthy, Muscovado sugar, toffee and some dark berry flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Liked the base version more than I did the barrel aged one, thought this was a pretty good overall brew and it's definitely worth trying if you get the chance!

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This excellent base of the BBA version pours a
rich coal black with a nice head of khaki foam that settles to a nice thick ring, thin
dusty layer, and sport some faint lacing with nice legs. Nose of heavy coffee,
cream, oak, char, deep roast, sweet brown sugars, and brulee. Flavors follow
the nose with rich coffee, oak, muscavodo, cherry, vinous notes, dark rum
elements, char, deep roast, brulee, leather, and dark berry notes. Complex
yet singular....very nice. Mouth feel is full, slick, very coating, RICH, light
carbonation, and a bitter malt note laced with coffee and sweet dark
sugars.
Overall....WOW.
